Alexander:I tend to agree with the above statement. But I haven't seen

The idea behind the series was to take the Ducks out of their "normal"
environment and have them act in "our" world. In that way it was hoped
to get new readers for the Duck adventures as the stories were well
researched and had a well founded background.>>

Hmm, this is... strange. As we all know, Carl Barks used the names of "real"
places and cultures in his Duck stories, and Don Rosa and others have
continued the tradition in their own adventures. So what did the Ehapa people
mean by "having [the Ducks] act in 'our' world"?

As in the Barks and Rosa stories, the "Treasure Chest" stories' "Disney Earth"
inhabitants are mostly animal characters, though at least one human (Pablo
Picasso) made an appearance in a flashback. Except for human faces on
statuary, in paintings, and the like, and the "notes" at the end, there's no
indication that these stories are taking place in "our" world. Even the
"Treasure Chest" version of Disney World is populated by dogfaces!

Perhaps "Treasure Chest" was meant as a sort of educational initiative, to
encourage readers to find out more about the cultures that were depicted in
these stories. Since the stories themselves are squarely in the tradition of
Duck adventure, however, it's a mystery as to why they had poor sales.

Could you be referring to the first Princess Oona story ?

I have a curiosity about this character.
The DcD lists 4 appearances by Oona, drawn by Vicar,
and the story codes are

D 92547 D 93505 D 93506 D 96246

Now, my question is: if Oona first appearance was, as the
story seems to show, in D 93505, who's the Oona appearing
in D 92547 ? (I only read the second and third stories)

It's funny: Stefan Printz-Pahlson, who co-invented the series, reported
about it a while ago on this mailing list. He listed the stories, but he
forgot to mention the 6th story!

Today I went in to my local semi-comic store for the first time in a week
or so. And lo and behold they had Uncle Scrooge #308 and Uncle Scrooge
Adventures #54! So Gladstone, does this mean you can distribute in Europe
again?

I'm delurking here for a moment to mention an unusual problem I'm having with
the Digests. Several times now when the digests have included messages from
Alberto Beccatini (hi Alberto), the entire digest has come through with an
eye-straining background color of solid magenta, and all the type in black
EXCEPT some of Alberto's message -- the end matter after the actual message.
Has anyone else noticed this, or is it something that my internet provider,
America Online is doing? Sorry this is off-topic.
