Greetings All,
Howdy. It's been a good, long while, since I was subscribed to this list as
quite a lurker. Since then, I've sort of slacked off in the comic book thing.
(Not that I don't still love my Uncle Scrooge.)
Which leads me to ask, if anybody has any holes in their collection to fill, I
have
a slew of doubles that I would be willing to sell or trade. Mostly Disney's
Disney Comics, but some Gladstone, too.

If you (or any other new collector) want to buy the Barks albums, you can
STILL buy them! Gladstone does not have to re-print the stories. You know,
there are back issues of the regular comics AND MOST of the color albums.
All you have to do if you want to order a DDA or USA album is write to Mrs.
Janet Dvorak of Gladstone and ask for a catalogue! Or look at the inside
front or back covers of their current USA albums for available back issues.
Hence, the "almost only answer is NOT reprints"!
Believe me, I sympathize with new-comer collectors. I joined the fold back
in 1987 when Gladstone had first appeared. But can you imagine Gladstone
starting every 3-4 years a NEW round of re-prints? How many new collectors
are being added? Are they enough to justify such reprints?

Mmmmh. I **can** imagine Disney Italy reprinting the same story over and
over, because that's what they ARE doing.
Some Italian stories have been reprinted twice in "Classici Walt Disney" at
less than one year's distance! (e. g. I TL 331-B was reprinted in CD 151
**and** nine months later in CD 160).
Some of Barks' stories have been reprinted LOTS of times.
To quote a couple: W FC 108-A was printed 5 times in comic books, once in a
hard-cover book and once in an amateur edition; W US 240-01 was printed by
Mondadori/WDC 5 times in 44 years (not to speak of at least one amateur
reprint).
OK OK I can see your point: Italian comics are a lot CHEAPER than US ones.
Just the same, it IS annoying to find the same old story over and over
TOGETHER with new stories you want to read (so you HAVE to buy that issue).
It is perhaps not strange that here in Italy too Disney comic sales are
qickly falling down...

German "LIMIT" now with "mighty Ducks" comic!

The German "LIMIT" Magazine from Ehapa has Changed again and now they have
52 pages about Sports, Computer Games and movies....
and since the last issue (3/98) they still had 3 Duck stories (or also
Ducktails) inside. But now they have a 16 page "take out" comic in the
Middle of the Magazine, and the comic in the new issue (April 1998) is a 15
page (+1 cover) story featuring the Mighty Ducks Icehockey team. The story
itself looks a little bit like the "phantomias" comics that are done in
italy and that were cancelled here in germany last year. But there is no
story code visible on the first page....
I highly doubt that this story is done in Germany ;-)...so has anyone seen
it elsewhere?

Well, I rely on information found either on the DcD or your own FSB,
mostly.
The story in question is

Only, I apparently have an older version of FSB, which just says
/Carpi/Capitanio/
In that version (downloaded a couple of months ago), you used to
distinguish between the two Carpis by using the second's full name,
"Pier Carpi", so I thought the single "Carpi" would always mean the
guy born in Genoa, etc. etc. ;-)
However, I double-checked with the DcD which, in turn, clearly says
writer : Giovan Battista Carpi
Obviously, I cannot say which of the two references is the correct
one, now...
Also, I have a handful of similar cases...
TL 396-B 30/06/63 "Archimede Pitagorico e il Robot Annonario" P.L. De Vita
TL 396-C 30/06/63 "Topolino e lo svaligiatore puntualissimo" Melegaro (?)
TL 464-A 18/10/64 "Pippo e l' epidemia bovina" S. Asteriti

All of these stories are listed in your "old" FSB as just plain
"Carpi", while the DcD presents them as written by "Giovan Battista
Carpi".
I will be glad to correct any error in my own DB, as soon as I know
where's the error in your ones... ;-)
