I recently bought the hardcover of Uncle Scrooge: His Life and
Times directly from the publisher for 60 bucks. It is a great book,
although perhaps some purists will object to the coloring. Just last
week, Amazon.com had it listed as in stock at 40 bucks. I checked
Amazon.com today and it is back to $60. I'm not sure why the price
changed.
Also, thanks to everyone for their advice concerning which Carl
Barks Library Set to get. However, I'm a little unclear about
Christopher E. Barat's advice. How are collections split between
"sets"? For example, I thought there were 25 albums in the CBL of
Donald Duck Adventures in Color. Is there another set, or are you
dividing the 25 albums into two sets? I have the same questions
concerning the WDC&S and US sets. Thanks!

A few corrections from John Clark on the PREVIEWS data for
WDC&S:
My story "The Egg Collector" is *not* in #626 - Diamond flubbed
things up (apparently constructing this month's Gladstone previews by
deleting and retyping parts of last month's!). It's still coming in the
Easter issue, #625.
And as for the Mickey stories that *will* be in #626, "Off on a
Comet" is by Byron Erickson and Noel Van Horn. Be there... it's a doozy!

I totally agree with you that everybody should be able to express his
opinions freely here. There seem to have been some misunderstandings
lately that sensified things a little.
However, I am getting sick of people putting down Don Rosa as an
artist in comparison to Carl Barks. I think that his comics are
usually not as great as Carl's, but they are better than most others.
That is just my opinion. Criticizing his works is absolutely
legitimate, but WHY always in comparison to Carl??? They are not
rivals, they don't seem to be close friends...
This is a general thing, doesn't have to do with (just) you.

Apart from the 12 original chapters, there's the following:
D 91249 "Of Ducks, Dimes and Destinies" (usually considered chapter "0")

The work of Carl Barks has become the standard on Duck comics. Whether
you like it or not, every new Duck story will be compared to the work of
Barks. And who is a friend of whom is totally irrelevant.

Mind telling us a bit more about what is reprinted? The weeklies
in the stores are wrapped in plastic at the moment so you can't
browse'em, and the Egmont home page only mentions the new stuff.
New material that is particularly good is of course also of
interest.
