That's very interesting indeed. I think this could be added to the
Topolino index (or to the Italian index anyway). So give us the titles
please!

You said the stories are "educative ones". Are these "real" stories,
with a real plot and a script, or just a series of "subjects"
illustrated by Carpi and Rota? (something like "Paperino e la storia
dell'acqua dolce" on TL 1587 or "Donald Duck Tells About Kites").

This is a project that's been going on since 1990, originally done for my
own sake. But it has grown quite a bit since I started doing it, and I'm
pretty sure there are lots of people on the list who'd be very interested to
share this with me now.

So far I've gotten up the indexes of Don's Disney comics with lots of juicy
background info and such about them, and there is plenty more in the works!

This letter is one day old, becuase I wanted to let the others who took
part see it firstly (fair enough, huh?):

I had one of the greatest trips yesterday and today. I just came home 1=BD
hours ago, and my hands are still hurting because my bag was heavy, and t=
he
shoulder-carry-thing broke!
We planned the trip for quite a long and at a time last week we didn't kn=
ow
if we would meet, but we did, and it was great fun.
I took the train yesterday at 2.30 pm and I didn't meet that many freaks =
in
the train, just an old lady who was reading a new book, Little Tree, by
some author (it's been rewieved in TV), she also knew what e-mails were.
In Langaa I stood at a pole. Then I saw some bearded man come on the othe=
r
pier (perron?), but he placed himself in front of me. When in the train i=
t
showed that he was actually our friend Ole, who just didn't know if that
strange-looking person would be me...
Thomas was in the train bound for Aalborg, and we all sat down chatting.
Then in Aalborg Ole went first and found Soeren, who could recognize me,
because of my rather funny (?) Goofy-cap...
Then we went to Soerens appartment. Soeren made the slogan of the trip, a=
s
he kept saying: it's not far, all 15 minutes. well, maybe it seemed longe=
r
for me, cause my bag was heavy then, too... as I had comics for all.=20
I had most for Soeren and Ole had most for me, Thomas brought me a stack =
of
pocketbooks, (we all had soemthing for everyone, didn't we? I thank you
all:-)
Well, as Soeren had cooked a dinner (lamb an some kind of 2 hour-roasted
potatoes...) we ate that sometime. After and before that we talked about
comics, Donald Duck and stuff like that. Soeren has a complete collection
of Pockets, so as I don't have such a collection, I felt like in heaven.=20
I brought two disks with some scans of one of the great white books with
Daisy, so we spend some time id-ing the drawers and so... Thomas and me
must have looked rather funny, as those two experts knew much about those
italian artists; but as Soeren said "we don't know, we are just mentionin=
g
4 names and hopes one of them fits..."=20
Then I used Oles dk-index for finding some Marco Rota-stories in the
Pocketbooks. Bottomline is that we talked and id-ed and talked until 5 am.
then we went to bed in two sacs and Ole on the sofa. I woke up at 9 and
probably woke the others too, with my dapping around on the treefloor...
We didn't get any breakfeast cause we were much to excited (or not hungry=
)
for finding more comics, and Ole was trying to find out what comics to fi=
nd
(by means of his missing-list).
Then we set out for a comic-store named Laesehesten (the reading horse...
sounds like some indian!), it was not a long way (!) and we grapped a
hotdog, an ice or a cigaret on the way. We visited firstly a store with
many new issues, but when Soeren or Ole asked comics from 1969 and the
70'es were brought out in the light I bought some of them, and Ole was
lucky to close some holes in his collection. Thomas and I found some comi=
cs
for a dutch guy we know.=20
Then we went to laesehesten, which was a huge store. appearently also wit=
h
albums that I didn't saw, but then, I looked in the old Weeklies form 60'=
es
and 70'es. In anopther room Thomas found some extras form 1980'es, Ole
closed more holes, and I didn't really catch what Soeren found... I bough=
t
for 150 kroner or so.
Then when we were finished there it was time for leaving. We said thank y=
ou
very much to Soeren for a nice day, and jumoed on the train. somewhere
between the next station Ole and I jumped of again becuase we had an
appointment with a friend, who had some doubles and such for us.
really a collection he had there, and I was lucky completing my
1961-collection with some at least readable and some fine issues. I found
something there, and Ole did too, so we say a large thank you to this guy=

I never cease to be amazed at what Carl is capable of. I knew of his =
artistic talents, but not of his poetic capabilities. This is not an =
April Fool's joke. It must have been one of those times when he had a =
period of lucidity (comment to the author of the digest note about a =
person who slips in and out of lucidity). Carl is always lucid. It is =
amazing what he has done with his life without an extended formal =
education. It is always a pleasure to be able to meet with him and learn =
from his fund of knowledge. He has always (and still does) do many =
things which enrich this knowledge base. I am indeed sorry that all of =
his fans do not have the privilege of seeing this person and enjoying a =
few hours with him. He is the antithesis of Uncle Scrooge, a very =
generous outgoing person. Incidentally, he has been told that he wrote a =
ballad and not an Ode (foir what it's worth)=20
