Hear hear Rob! I agree with your point whole heartedly. Speaking for myself
I do not understand this obsession with Barks/Rosa work which I find
exclusive. It irks me so much I find I tend to avoid reading Rosa stories.
Clara is a character who has appeared occasionally in comics drawn by
numerous past as well as contemporary artists. She appears sometimes to be
to Daisy what Clarabelle is to Minnie.

Dear everybody!

I wish you all a very happy 2003!

One of my personal intentions for this new year
is to avid actions that could harm the atmosphere
here on DCML!

Best regards from

Hi all!

I have found that the hen Clara Cluck has
appeared both in one story by Carl Barks
[W OS 1955-03] "The Double Date" from 1959
and in one story by Don Rosa [H 87112]
"Forget me not" from 1990.

However both these stories are only drawn by
Barks/Rosa. Barks' story was written by Bob
Gregory while Rosa's story was written by Ruud
Straatman. This leaves me with a very difficult
question: shold I, or should I *not*, include
Clara Cluck in my "Who's who in Duckburg"
pages in where I intend to present the characters
in the Barks/Rosa universe only?

Why, do it the Donald/Gladstone way: make a lottery. :-)

Just to mention it: This one ist based on the (sometimes
contradictory)German translations where Grandma ist Scrooge's sister and
such things!

And one of mine is to stop complaining about other people's typos and
spelling mistakes! 8-)

Gelukkig 2003 to everyone!

For Sigvald:

As Clara Cluck was DRAWN by BOTH Barks and Rosa, WHY NOT include them in the
Barks/Rosa Universe? We have a small enough cast of characters with which to
build a city. If we start removing some that we clearly have, we have even
less to work with. Remember, Donad, himself has a humble origin (a bit part
(an "extra")in a Silly Symphony). Was Clara Cluck's Disney origin any less
valid? If Donald can interact with Mickey,Peter Pan, Snow White, the Seven
Dwarfs, Zeke Wolf, and probably Mulan!!! (in SOME commercial universe) Why
can't Daisy and Donald interact with Clara in comics (especially if they
already have?

Perhaps an orthodox Barksist should consider only Barks' greatest period as
the "Classical" or "Golden Period", and only characters he used THEN should be
considered for the "REAL" universe. Should that period include 1948-1952, or
1949-1950? Or perhaps only late 1949 through early 1950? Oops, sorry, No
Gyro, no April, May & June, no Glomgold, No Jones, No Ms. Quackfaster, no ollie
eiderduck or Uncle Eiderduck, No Rockerduck, No Fethry, No Emil, No Moby, No
Deltoid Biceppa or Fuldrip Pulpbugle...ad infinitum... At least we won't have
to admit that Rockhead Rooster Exists!!!

No mocking intended here... Just something to think about.
As an historian and mapper of the Duck Universe, I tend to vote for the most
information possible. I'll be curious to read what others say!

Do you want my opinion? Since I did not write the story, I don't
necessarilly agree with anything it expounds. Those were days when I needed
work very badly to make up for the slack resulting from Gladstone not being
able to keep me busy. So I tried asking Oberon for scripts, but after three
or four I decided I didn't like that method of work -- one reason being that
I was naturally not given the better scripts, and also that I was obliged to
include characters that, in my view of Duckburg, I regarded as
"non-existant".
As far as I'm concerned, you should not include Clara Cluck in your "Who's
Who"... anymore than you should include some silly character like Dumbo the
flying, talking, eternally-infant elephant just because Barks illustrated a
script that included him. But it's your "Who's Who" for you to decide what
to do. Doo-dah.

You intend more avid actions?!?! Oh, no, no, PLEASE, no! Anything but
that!!! That's what causes the whole .... Huh?
You meant "avOid actions"....?
Oh. That's very different.
Never mind....

Hi all,
I'm still indexing Australian issues and was wondering if there were
anyone here with a good collection of old (1960's) Italian issues that could
give me a hand to work out the correct codes for some Australian covers that I
suspect originated on Italian comics, one of them I know is G319 which has the
art from "Almanacco Topolino" Febbraio 1963, as I have a copy of this Italian
issue.

Here's a page with the covers I need to identify -

Most of these covers are not drawn by Italian artists. It looks like some
Australian artist traced/redrew original American covers, or panels from
American stories.
A few of them are not redrawn, though:
G453 is W WDC 341-00
G494 is W WDC 357-00
G519 is W WDC 373-00
G564 is W WDC 376-00
A few others look familiar, but I can't find them now.
Instead, the following have an Italian (Perego) feel:
G473
G489
G491

Ciao,
Armando
Timo Ronkainen
Some of those are Danish origin.
G505 = DC AA1970-46 moth in money bill carpet

G519 = W WDC 373-00 Buried in the sand

Some are some kind of composite covers, partly copied from Barks and partly
somewhere else.
G395 has ducks from some Barks story, which I don't remember right now,
Mickey is somewhere else.

Timo
