You talk to the Harry Flukses of this world and they say "I want to see

Sarcasm is a very difficult thing when you're sending email or posting to a
message board, since there is no visual or even audio connection between the
persons that communicate (and would reveal it). There's always people who
don't see it and take it personally and you can't blame them since it often
is very difficult to spot it online. But you can mostly tell if it's just a
joke when you start thinking of the whole situation and who said it...
I'm sure Sigvald is giggling by his computer when he is reading our posts
about this subject and wonders how the hell did this get so many replies...

As a "pker" (which is the italian name of "Pk's fans"), I'd like to say a
couple of things...
The videogame you're speaking about was released after two italian comics
series - PKNA (Paperinik New Adventures), fifty monthly issues, and the
following PK2, eighteen montly issues. Eventually, this brought to the
launch of several same-sized series just as MM (which however closed at
issue #12), X-Mickey, and the famous W.i.t.c.h
At the end of PKNA-PK2 storyline, the PkTeam - the team of
plotwriters-artists-and so on behind the comics - started a brand new
series, titled just "PK", which (at least in the original intentions) should
have been sold in foreign countries, and even in Usa, if the videogame's
launch would have been a success. Actually, italian readers are debating on
this new series, and the main reason why so many pkers don't like it, is its
elimination of Paperinik's past. In the PKNA series, Paperinik met One and
shortened his name in Pk, but he still had his past behind him, earning the
costume of Fantomius at Villa Rosa and so on: while, in PK, Donald Duck is
chosen by One as a Guardian of Galaxy, never becoming Paperinik but just
chosing the superhero name of Pk. I haven't had a chance to play at the
videogame (which is limited to Playstation2 and Gamecube, at least for now),
but as far as I heard from other pkers, the plotline is pretty different
from the new series' one too.
Once, there were many Pk-devoted sites on the net. The updated sites are a
few number by now, but on Pkers (http://pk.immaginario.net) and PkGalaxy
Forum (http://pikeyforum.cjb.net) you'll find some english informations
about the three PK-series, the videogame, Pk's characters, and so on. Also,
Pk.TV (http://www.pkers.org) promotes a chat about Pk, which also has an
english chan for users from foreign countries: you can access this from
http://www.pkers.org/chat/
I apologize for not having time to post more details, but I don't have much
time to write right now - however, I know there are others pk-readers
subscribed on the mailing list, so feel free to reply to this thread :)

I think you should clearly define the boundaries of your "universe" and
mention this on your website. If you decide that "everything Barks or Rosa
wrote-and-drew" is relevant, then Clara Cluck does not exist. Also make sure
to include or exclude Barks's paintings (which he also "wrote" himself),
since some of them contain Horace and Clarabelle as characters.
Johnny Grote went to the extreme in his German Barks index. He *does* list
the Mickey story and the non-Disney stories that Barks did, but this is in a
separate section of the book, marked with "WARNING - YOU ARE LEAVING THE
DUCKBURG SECTOR". 8-)

The use of a smiley *is* useful, because we can't see nor hear you when we
read your text. And especially when a text can be read in more than one way,
it helps when a smiley indicates "this is *not* meant to be serious".
This has nothing to do with laughing at your own jokes. It's just a handy
way of communicating.

Has Archie Comics actually USED the Super Duck character lately? I'm sure he
hasn't been in regular comics, but it's always possible they stuck a reprint
in a digest somewhere. If not (which I suspect is the case), they'd have a
hard time enforcing their old trademark. Especially if a behemoth like
Disney decided to take it.
(By the way, I always Soupie's (as his nephew Fauntleroy called him)
girlfriend's name, Uwanna Duck, was vaguely obscene. And if there's one
thing I can't stand, to dredge up a tired old joke, it's vagueness.)

Actually, yes. Sometime in the last ten years, a new story was done
for an issue of, I think, LAUGH Digest (which may or may not still be
published now... I'm not sure). In it, Super Duck had retired as a superhero
and Faunt was taking up the cape to fight in his stead.
Of course, this ignored the fact that from just a few issues into
his 1940s series, Super Duck was no longer a superhero- simply a brassy

Unfortunately, the Smiley is often used to mean "Here's what I think of you,
and you can't even reply in kind because I put a smiley on it." I don't use
it, personally, partly because of that and partly because I think I'm a good
enough writer to get my meaning across without it. (And if I miss, I don't
mind apologizing afterward.)

Well, a Mac spelling check wouldn't help you in this case, either. The
program *only* confirms that the spelling of the word fits to that of
any word in the built-in dictionary, not that the word is the one
intended. And both "avid" and "avoid" are indeed valid words.

Disney Adventures Game Time Special (Winter 2002-2003)

Hey Stefan,
>And do [Archie] only own the name "Super Duck" in North America?
Good question. I don't know the answer.
The name Super Duck has been used for Disney's PK in Britain as
early as the 1970s, though, and between then and now Archie has (to the best
of my knowledge) never made a legal issue of it. Maybe they can't do it now
because they didn't do it then, or some such? Of course, I've never studied
law.
