On a slightly different subject, everyone is saying Boom! will pick up Uncle Scrooge at number #384. So does that mean Gemstone's final issue was 383?
I was at a comic store the other day and found a box full of various Gemstone issues, and I swear I saw this among them:
http://tinyurl.com/m93g2f
It didn't look like an issue I had, but it had been so long since I got a new issue of Uncle Scrooge, I didn't buy it. But now I'm going to go back tomorrow or Friday to definitely get it.
So am I just dreaming things and Gemstone never did get 384 out, or are they doing the same issue number again for some reason?

The last Gemstone issue was #383. The cover that you are showing as #384 in that link was issue #382 in reality. Gemstone had their Uncle Scrooge covers all screwy during the last few months.

Ahh, that would make sense then, thanks for clarifying.

Quote from user: Mcduck_EnterprisesNo one is calling BOOM hacks.....hacking is a adjective for 'pushing out' material - possibly in relation with saturation...George Lucas is great at this.....and this is more of a licensing thing anyways....."Hey, Cars, Princess and Incredibles toothbrushes sell - because that's all that is offered for kids toothbrushes so it must be in demand!"
forget it,...everyone's so sensitive.
Oh, come on. You wrote about BOOM! "hacking out" Cars comics, and I asked you in which way their creators were hacks. If I misunderstood you, I apologize. But honestly, if you didn't want anyone to make the logical assumption that you thought BOOM!'s creators were hacks, you shouldn't have used the phrase "hack out". I doubt you would describe Gemstone's endeavors as "hacking out" Disney publications.
But I agree with you about BOOM!'s upcoming comics with the Standard Characters. They can't come soon enough. Let's hope BOOM! hacks out some good monthlies. :)

There is just a difference between a verb and noun....that's all.

The internet is abuzz with news on the Marvel/Disney deal.
BOOM! is eerily silent on what it means to them (if anything.) No tweets from either Mark Waid or Chip Mosher, when they're usually very active.

In this case I am rooting for Boom all the way. When Marvel had the license to produce Disney Comics with the modern day characters in the 90's they were GAWD. AWFUL.
No exaggeration. Some of the worst stuff in the Disney pantheon ever produced. :(
I know Boom hasn't started yet, but I'd be abhorred to even think of a potential repeat of that again...

Yeah, Boom's Henson and Pixar output has been great. I was cautiously optimistic about the new classic line.
I wonder if Disney will yank back that license after Boom's contract expires?
Everybody wants to know, and Waid and Co. are saying *nothing.* :-/

I don't know. I'm not sure The Walt Disney Company would want to publish it's own comic books after 1993. I hope Boom does a good job though.
