Amen to that Jeff! I know many people are waiting for and wanting a hardback Carl Barks Library, but what about a more affordable Carl Barks Library in a TPB format? Imagine the Carl Barks in Color Library but instead of an album format, a TPB format. They could have a TPB Library of Barks' 10 pagers and have between 10 and 15 of these stories in each TPB. This would appeal to both us fans and also sell better in bookstores and be more likely bought by libraries.

Once again, it is not that I and many others are against seeing Barks, Rosa, and other classic stories. It is all about the *format*! We have had *way* too many of them in the monthly titles, but it would be *great* to have them in a TPB format.

It seems it will not be possible with Previews, even if it doesn't appear the note "Available only in USA". Yesterday I went to my comic book shop and the owner tried to make an order for WDC, but it was refused. Another reason to be very disappointed (only two issues to 700th, and it will be really difficult to have them...).

Boom seems to agree; their Barks reprints are $25 hardcovers (for 128 pages, which is double the page count of the prestiege titles).

Personally I prefer hardcovers. And while the price is unfortunate it's better than the alternative.
I believe libraries are buying many graphic novel hardcovers as they need the more durable format.

This is true and very lucrative. Again - it's about getting the material out there in as many ways possible while building revenue. Just plain common sense.

The Previews solicitations are an indication, but BOOM! are so new at handling the Standard Characters (Donald, Mickey etc.) license that they could easily have changed their minds since coming up with that publishing schedule.

BOOM! are attending the San Diego Comic-Con and will hold a discussion panel tomorrow Friday at 1 in the afternoon (US West Coast time, I think). My guess (and it's only a guess) is that we will get some solid information about what they intend to do with Mickey & co.

http://www.comicbookresources.com/ and http://www.newsarama.com/comics/ are both reporting from the Con, in case anybody is interested...

Comic Book Resources now has an article at http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=22256 . It seems the BOOM! people are going ahead with their plans to print Ultraheroes and DoubleDuck. And a Wizards of Mickey drawing illustrates the article, so presumably BOOM! will be using those stories as well. No mention of what material they intend to use in their Uncle Scrooge book.
