I think Behemoth (Bolivar's son) should be included he was in Donald's Love Letters.

Snozzie and Barko..? I guess they are not accepted as pets?

Quote from user: Robb_K.. all the animals in WDC December 1949 (#111).
There is only one animal (with a name) in the Love Letter story in WDC #111. (Bolivar's pup - Behemoth, Behe)

Grandma's old pet bull - Johnny
Billy Goat and Dobbin
Clementine
Lubricated Lightning

Sorry. I should have written: WDC #106 "Too Many Pets".

Did we mention The Ducks' pet monkey from DD #29 2nd story?
Dutch Duckfan Down Under

The story in WDC #106 is mentioned (Plenty of Pets).
In "Too Many Pets" we can find Jingo, the monkey.

You people are the most. As I suspected, you got a few that I forgot--namely, Petrucchio and Greased Lighting. So let's push the total up to twenty-nine, because why not? General Snozzie was considered highly dubious, since I think that if anyone "owns" him, it's the Woodchucks organization. I don't think Barko belongs to the duck family, either. It's funny that you would mention B-26, Arild--I had briefly considered including that guy, but then I decided really, now, there's just no plausible way to claim that "B-26" is his actual name as opposed to just his contestant number. And I'm not counting Bolivar's alternate names. Don't think it didn't occur to me, though.

So okay, so far we have:

Bolivar
Jumbo
Singapore Joe
Castaway
Polly
Grand Genius III
Tagalong
Gabby
Cheltenham
Al
Catapult
Rocket Wing
Abdul
Roscoe
Sylvester
Yehooty
Jasmine
Jingo
Petrucchio
Greased Lightning
Johnny
Billy
Dobbin
Clementine
Behe
Tabby
The 1946 turkey just as soon as someone provides its actual name ;)

You people are efficient. Only two are missing--and I wouldn't call either of them terribly obscure. I'm sure we'll get there sooner rather than later.

Derby (horse)
Henrietta (chicken)

Are they mentioned by name in something that Barks wrote (they may be well; I just don't know)? References, please. In either case, those aren't the ones that I was thinking of, though of course if they meet the parameters, they certainly "count," whatever that means.
Robb_K
DD 29-,"Too Many Pets", had the following pets living in Donald's house before Jingo arrived:
3 little puppies (mutts-not St. Bernards), a cat (not black like Tabby), a canary (in a birdcage), a frog (in the bathtub), and two small turtles. What about the falcon Donald received from his uncle in a 1945 or 1946 story (the one that bothered Neighbor Smith)? Also, what about the reindeer that pulled The Nephews up the hill to go sledding (WDC Jan 1958?)?
Arild
Yes, but GeoX is asking for pets with names.
The falcon has a name: Farragut the Falcon
The reindeer, Roscoe, is mentioned :)
GeoX
Yup, Farragut. Just one left, unless I'm forgetting something--which, as we've seen, is a real possibility.
Sirredknee
Mournful Mary from "Adventure Down Under"
reindeer Blitzen from WDC 268

squirrel Sidney from WDC 179
raven Randolph WDC 265

(I cheated and found the last two here.)
GeoX
Dammit, sirredknee, you have to at least PRETEND to have thought of them yourself! :) 'Course, I missed the last two also, so...
That should be all of them, but for your consideration, a few dubious ones:
-The unicorn from "Trail of the." It's repeatedly referred to as "Unie." Only problem is, it would be a real stretch to say that that's its name, as opposed to just a generic thing you call a unicorn. One of the kids calls for it by that name before they even find it. It's somewhat similar to the elephant in "The Duckburg Pet Parade" in that regard, but I think there's a bit more evidence there that "Jumbo" is an actual name.
-Tortie the Tortoise in "Rocks to Riches." Probably not a pet per se, but the kids do interact with him in a very pet-like manner. I think you could make a not-wholly-unconvincing case.
-Leo the Lion in "Gift Lion." Okay, here we're really just messing around. As you know, "Leo" is actually just a Beagle Boy in a lion suit. BUT! Scrooge does replace him with a real lion, so maybe the name transfers over? Of course, even then, we'd have to assume that Scrooge actually OWNS the real one. But there you go.
-Cluckery Cluck the hen in "Krankenstein Gyro." The problem being, of course, that there's no evidence that Gyro is in any way related to the ducks. Not that he couldn't be--if ducks, geese, and coots can all interbreed, I see no reason why not--but I don't think he is. Still, if we really wanted to mess with semantics, we could use "family" in a kind of business-y sense--ie, Walt Disney®'s family of Donald Duck?¢ characters by Carl Barks--and maybe we could swing it.
Anyway, Arild clearly wins for sheer numbers, but the next slot is still reserved for Matilda if she wants it.
Matilda
Is it kosher to ask a question to which I don't know the whole answer? I think I will anyway, because I'm curious to find out the answer. Which Barks stories are written as flashbacks, with the first panel(s) presenting a scene in media res? The one who names the most wins (or, if there's only one, the one who names that first!).
Robb_K
The first few panels of these two stories is in the present, but most of the stories until the epilogues, is in a long flashback: WDC 142 "The Story of Omelet", and the derivative idea, story of Donald ruining the carved statue head of Senator Snoggin in Great Head Park. Uncle Scrooge FC 395 (3) "The Horseradish story" starts with a flashback to The 1700s.
