Last weeks Donald Duck in Egmontland had the first part of a story by W.
Van Horn. In this story Rumpus wants half of Scrooge's money. His lawyer
claims that he is entitled to this because he was deprived of seeing his
family afterhis mother left Scrooge's father Fergus McDuck.I've never seen
any reference to divorce in a d-c story before.Have any of you?

Yes, there is a Z? Carioca
brazilian history, published in 1995, on "Z? Carioca 2029", named "O Juiz",
B 940167, write by unknow, and draw by Gustavo Machado,
were Joe is making the judgement of a a pair that will separate, because the
husband is a snoring. The separation is decided into a soccer game between
the husband family and the wife family, and Joe is the judge. In fact, all
discover that the real snoring is the wife, and not her husband. Nice
history.

Hi

I have put few scans on my page:
http://members.xoom.com/timoro/DDstory

I hope someone could find out if this DD-story is what I think it is.
Is it redrawn version of 1952 DD-story in DDFC 379 (DD22)? If so, do you
have original comic?
Story is about big fishing competition and it has 10 pgs.
This version is from Finnish Aku Ankka 16/1958.

Thanks in advance,

Is really the Norwegian part enough complete for this? They say that it is
not complete ("Indekset er ikke komplett!"), but isn't some information too
old to be in Inducks yet?

BTW, why don't they use the Swedish/Danish titles for the following ones?

Interesting detail: they obviously used our Inducks database for their Rota
index. Even a Dutch title for one of Rota's glue stories ("Wat vooraf ging")
made it into their index.
No acknowledgements to Inducks, though. It's all "copyright Disney"...

I haven't seen the cover. But isn't it possible that the cover just features
a ghost for the sake of the joke? Maybe not a good joke, or one you don't
get...

This sounds horrible to me. Every country has its own traditions for Disney
stories. In my country, coins are always yellow, and bills are green. Even
if Dutch coins are silver and copper, and Dutch bills have all kinds of
colours.
The money is called "Gulden" and Scrooge has a big "f" sign on his bin. I
would be offended if the Dutch editors put a dollar sign on Scrooge's bin,
just to please the author of the story.
Also, the Egmont colouring of Life-of-Scrooge chapter 12 (which they also
used in Holland) still looks very strange to me. It's against the Dutch
tradition.

BTW, talking about traditions: in this week's Dutch weekly, Scrooge is
Grandma's brother again. Now that *is* confusing...

Well, the story you mention is from DDFC 379, but it isn't particularly
"redrawn"... I happen to have the original comic, and the story looks the same
there. Will provide a scan as soon as possible.

I suggest to revise the index of this story; I have the slight idea that
the supposedly "redrawn" version is much likely the same as the original one.

Yossi Horowitz asked about the availability of LTo$M.
To my amazement I found the English! versions of LTo$M in
Espoo city library's database (in Finland).
Apparently Gladstone published all parts of LTo$M in four
comic books. Here is relevant parts of the information from
that database translated:
(Names were given in English so they are the correct ones)
(I didn't mess with them :-)

Creator: Rosa, Don

That identifier number might be similar to ISBN, at least they don't
give any
other data like that. If ISBN would be available it would have been
mentioned
in the database. A hardcover version containing all the stories has
indeed been
published in several European countries and in several languages. I am
not
sure if there is or isn't an English version available. Are any other
languages
possible for you to use?

Here is parts of the data for Finnish version:
Creator: Rosa, Don
Name: Roope Ankan el?m? ja teot, piirt?nyt ja kirjoittanut
Don Rosa
Publishing data: Helsinki Media Company Oy 1997
ISBN: 951-32-0355-7
Other creators: Disney, Walt

Now if the name of the book contains funny characters it's because my
computer
represents the special scandinavian letters with the same bitstring your
computer uses for some other characters. Just replace ? with an a with
two
dots on top of it, or just use an a. Anyway the book is in Finnish, and
I
do believe that it is impossible to read with only a dictionary. At
least
some knowledge of the language is required. With Germany, France or
Swedish etc.
it might just be possible since they are more similar to English.

**********************************************************************************
*Could other readers of DCML give data about other available languages
and books?*
**********************************************************************************

It might be easiest if you could find those four comics, then you would
have
the whole series.

Well, Western did an adaptation of "The Parent Trap" (the original Hayley
Mills version that was the first Disney movie I recall that involved divorce,
unless "Song of the South" counts). But I don't remember any stories dealing
with the classic characters involving divorce.

I have to revise my previous opinion about the story as put on the
internet by Timo:

It IS redrawn, definitely; but the re-inking was done very close to the
original, and the odd "bad" look of the story in the Finnish edition was not
due to the redrawing, but due to the fact that the original story was looking
very dubious. Please compare the pictures of the link above with a scan
out of the original comic book (OS 379):

(there is also a scan out of a German reprint [Micky Maus 22/1957]
available:

Gladstone issued an (expen$ive) hardcover book, containing all the 12
chapters.

We have been talking about the availability of comics from
libraries, especially Uncle $crooge comics.
In Finland libraries buy copies of all popular comics, also
of those which are published weekly or monthly. They keep them
as long as they stay in a readable condition, usually two or
three years, after that they get thrown away. You can borrow
them home, except for the newest issue which you can only read
at the library. If publishers make annual volumes they buy them
also and those last much longer. Now I am curious to know, how
are these things in other countries?
Are "consumption"/"soft-paper-back" comics available from libraries?

Well, not really. I have those albums and they are every bit as expensive as four regular USA comics. (Cover price: $10.95) And there are only 12 chapters in those albums, so it's probably best to look for second-hand copies of the comics in which the chapters originally appeared. (But stay away from those marked: Mint condition!)
