He does so in the Swedish versions. Also Daisy and HDL speak that kind of
language in both the English and Swedish versions...

I believe it was Clarence Nash himself (years ago on a Disney Channel special) I
once heard say that he came to Disney with the voice and the animators created a
character to match the voice. So Nash himself had a hand in the creation.

This talk about the Dutch "Duckburg is everywhere" exhibition made me
think about Kaj Stenvall, the Finnish artist who paints ducks. If you're
interested in seeing his works, check http://www.lpg.fi/stenvall/ and
click on the years below the headline. Lots of great pics!

One month ago I said I had some comics with the History of Computers in one
of them, but Arthur Faria Jr. replied that he only knew the magazine Video
Disney (that was the one I was thinking about) and that the History of
computers wasn't there. I did remember reading the History of computer so I
found that strange.

After checking my collection, I found that Arthur was right. The Video
Disney only lasted four issues and the History of Computers wasn't in either
of them. But I also found an older magazine (one year before Video Disney
started) whose title was... guess what... "The History of the Computer".

Just like Harry Fluks said, it's a 45 pages story (with an introductory
page), story code B 840098. In it Ludwig Von Drake, with the help of several
robots and computers, tells the history (and some stories) of computers
since the stone age.

I've been scanning and uploading the story to this address:
http://www.terravista.pt/MeiaPraia/1371/disney/disney.htm
For now there are only 13 pages, but I'll try to scan and upload the rest of
them as soon as I can. I'm sorry to say that this is the original portuguese
version. I don't have time to translate everything. Maybe I can do it some
day, but that will take some (a lot of) time. Anyway, you can enjoy it even
if you don't understand it...

Arthur Faria Jr.
Hi!!!

For all who are interested in Brazilian Fethry
spin-off stories, there are two new translated stories
uploaded at:

http://www.projesom.com.br/afaria/b_fethry/

B 840175 Fethry Kid "A foreman not so capable"
art: Irineu S. Rodrigues

B 840177 Fethry Submariner "Those dry people are crazy"
art: Irineu S. Rodrigues

In the second story we can see again two Brazilian Disney
artists caricatured in the splash panel, this time as
sea cratures: the fish wearing mustache is artist Moacir R.
Soares, the oyster wearing glasses is inker Ac?cio Ramos
(the most caricatured artist in Brazilian stories!).

Enjoy. The stories will stay there for 2 weeks.

(Does this mailing list still work? My non-digest subscription seems to have
been cancelled, and digests only come once a week?)

The most recent pocket books in Scandinavia, Germany (and elsewhere) open
with a story about Donald renting his garage to some strange people (D
98168). In Holland, these people are named Andy, Barry, Frans, Petra, Victor
and Rob (most of the names appear on page 16 of the story).

I know two of the German names: Harius and Perius.

I'm curious to know the other names in German, and the names of these people
in other languages.

I have seen no official Disney ducks there. Just all kinds of paintings,
statues, et cetera, with duck bills.

Why don't you ask him? 8-)

Hi,

About the Duckburg exhibit in Rotterdam, the Netherlands:

Is it possible there are two different kinds of exhibits? The flyer I
initially wrote about does show images of ducks as we know them. Maybe the
previous one Harry has been to, here in the Netherlands, was different from
the one that is being held now?

Last weekend I was in downtown Rotterdam. There was a lot of construction
going on, so there were detour signs set out for the exhibit. They were big
official yellow road signs with the text "Duckstad" (="Duckburg") and an
arrow. Pretty cool. ;o)

Mm, you're right. Sounds like it has nothing to do with Disney ducks. Weird!
Well, we might check it out anyway. It's SO close to where we live .. how
bad can it be? ;o)

Naah, I don't think so. Here's a quote from an article in my newspaper
(http://www.haagschecourant.nl/presentatie/page/0,1416,3_15_-2____72154,00.h
tml):

<<
geld kosten.
>>

In English:

<<
Though Walt Disney's creation was clearly the source of inspiration for
"Duckburg is Everywhere", the creators carefully avoid any reference to
Donald, Scrooge, the nephews and Daisy. Making an exhibit about the *real*
inhabitants of Duckburg would cost loads of money.
>>

This matches what I remember having seen in Hoorn.

Certainly these weekly digests are a bit unusual, and certainly most questions are allready answered after a week (gee - the internet makes a week seem long).
I notice someone saying that there are no Disney comics in english. I know there are no USA comics (outside of Disney Adventures - with a story or so per digest); but does this mean that there is no British Disney comics either? or Austrialian?

Well, why don't you use the non-digest version instead? Then you receive
each message separately after only about five minutes or so...

No British. Don't know about Australia. Possibly in India.

The story in question (script by list member Dave Rawson and "art" by Antonio
"Toni" Bancells) has the following characters in the Danish translation:

Arthur, Daniel, Harry, Ketty, Tom, and Peter.

I suspect the three first are from Dave's original script, as they correspond
to well-known Dutch list members. Also "Rob" and "Per(ius)" sound familiar,
but neither "Petra" nor "Ketty" rings any bells.
