Yes, but was it not explained with some medical substance he had used for
centuries to sustain life? He took similar drug to revoke it's effect.
No magic words, no hocus pocus. Fantastic, yes, but within the (slightly
stretched) boundaries of natural science.
Same thing with Old Castle's "ghost". Invisibility was achieved by chemical
stuff. Again really fantastic situation but there was no real ghost, or
magic involved.

That IS a fact! When Magica is drawn correct, she is beautiful! She's a very
erotic and exotic character, and when you add the spells and potions...
She's beautiful. Something about her reminds me of the Norwegian comic
character "Nemi", for those of you who've heard about her. (I know the
strips are printed in Norway and Sweden, maybe other places as well?)

version, I added the southern bits of Oregon, because I wanted the home of

far as I remember, someone have mentioned on the list that in a CB story,
someone was asked in a quiz contest how many states America had, and the
answer was 48. This is also my opinion - since an extra state would
influence among other things THE AMERICAN FLAG, which should be holy for all
Americans. That must mean that one of the states in USA today should not be
there... My theory is that North Dakota and South Dakota has been shrimped
into ONE state named "Dakota". Maybe that sounds weird for the Americans on
the list. Maybe another solution is that two of the tiny little states on
the west coast could be joined to one (how big is Rhode Island?). Does this
sound like a drastic thought? Well... it's better than ruining the Stars and
Stripes.

and that he sees the character as frumpy.
You betcher sweet life I find drawing Magica's hair tedious! And her
all-black outfit! Filling in black takes LOTS of time! It takes longer to
draw her than any other character in these comics! But no, I don't try to
draw her frumpy. I think you can see that when you note the extra vertical
ink line I always employ on both her and Goldie in the area just south of
the front of their neck.

one of these people at the Barks 100 year commemoration panel at the SD Con
when Bruce happily announced a new edition of the book of Barks'
paintings -- one jerk actually (I couldn't believe he did this,
*especially* at a panel which was to simply honor Barks' name and work)
stood up and asked "How will that new book effect the value of the original
that we bought from you?"
Anyway, the idea was for me to do a story explaining why there was a square
chicken and (maybe for the real fans) to justify the painting of a scene
from an adventure which never took place (but $crooge *had* to be in each
lithograph, again for the investors who would be upset if he were not). And
a copy of the comic was included with each purchase, or so I was told.
But looking back later, I wonder why I did not use the idea that $crooge is
excited about there being a GOLDEN, not simply square, egg under the square
chicken. Maybe they sent me a b&w copy of the painting or maybe I saw the
scene only briefly at some point. Anyway, I'm kinda glad I didn't notice
that detail -- it wasn't needed for my purposes. All that was needed was
the original idea that any sort of square eggs would be very valuable to
the egg industry. And that's one of my own favorites of my own old stories,
just the way it is.

THE OTHERS) not to do it. And a few hardcore Barksfans have been irate that
I would use a ghost. But as I always tell them, I'm not doing Carl Barks
stories. I'm doing my own stories, good or bad, based on his characters and

I updated my website (for the second time in two days!)

I can think of one exception to this. He wrote a christmas story where HDL wanted a steam shovel and actually drew Santa Claus and showed him using magic to get down the chiminey, with no explaination to spoil it's magicalness. (There was an editors note in the copy I have mentioning how unusual this was for Barks).

While not the Ducks ( or , even , Scamp ) another
Dark Horse Disney comic adapting a current movie
release has been announced - I saw a Dark Horse ad in
" Comic Buyer's Guide "
plugging a soon-to-come " MONSTERS , INC. " comic -
presumably a one , or two , -shot - the forthcoming
Pixar-Disney release . At least they , presumably ,
think that comics are enough of a promotional
device/have enough sales potential to bother with one
!
Say , if that devoutly hoped for Geppi/Disney deal
ever happens , do you think that they might have Dark
Horse handle the newsstand distribution , as was the
case with the 90s Gladstone/Marvel setup ??????? Only
trouble is , Dark Horse is , itself , pretty marginal
, at best , as far as newsstand distribution goes ,
especially for " traditional " newsstand distribution
, I think . ( I live in a downtown/central city - San
Francisco - without a car , and don't , regularly ,
see any full-fleged comics-carrying newsstands - as
opposed to comics shops - at all !!!!!!! )

HelpI hope all of you'll buy the comic that return I think in January from (increbly) Marvel Comics.
Steve Gerber return to write HOWARD THE DUCK for a 6 issues miniseries (into the new MAX imprint), beyond the problems that about the character have DZNEE... (I read about but is more messy than the argentine politics).
Whatever, in this new miniseries Howard became a MOUSE and I think another animals too...
Beside this launch are the another for the same date (January?): The Essential HDD reprinting in B&W 29 classics numbers of the Gerber's original series... (very low price, btw)
I hope all the Howard and Gerber fans in the list take a look to these new comics. If they are a success I'll can read more of one my favorite characters
