First let me say HI again! I'm back.
Re: The Pool of Hated characters:
Why should anyone actually "hate" any of these characters?
I'm not too familiar with some, and there are a few I'm not real
partial to seeing, but I figure there might be some folks who like
them and why not let them read stories about them? I'd actually
love to see more stories with some of the above character, too!

Sorry Vidar. My Internet Service was bought out by Earthlink
recently and I've been at war with them for the past couple of
months. They have taken down the server which stored my entire
website because they are forcing all of their little "acquisitions"
( like my former ISP "OneMain.Com") to conform to their new
format. I haven't had the time to slowly redo the entire website.
Arrrgh! I'm really frustrated with what they've done to my site
and I have no idea when i will be able to reformat the whole thing
and upload it to their new server. Sigh. My apologies to everyone.
Oh, and you may notice that I have a new e-mail address. I'm
afraid someone who had my old address in their address book
was infected with the SirCam Virus and it was constantly bombarding
my old address with spam! As a result I had to chuck the old one
though i do try to check it for stray mail that makes it in between all
the garbage I get there.
Sigh.... I guess when it "rains" it "pours"!
Hopefully it won't be too long before I have the site up again. I guess
I can take this opportunity to streamline it some, too. I'll keep in touch.

Don't have the script, but 'Orderly, Utterly Tranquil Example..."

Being a fan of Jack Bradbury artwork (until the 60s), I *have*
to like very much those *old* stories he drawn with Chip & Dale,
Wolves and Pigs, Hiawatha, Mickey and Goofy (I don't like
his Ducks though...). But I simply *hate* those absolutely
boring, unfunny and repetitive S-coded stories from the 80s
-- and many were unfortunately drawn by an almost unrecognizable
Bradbury :-(. If I'm not wrong, many (if not all) of those stories
were produced by James Diaz Studios, weren't they? The only exception
goes to "Mickey and the Sleuth" stories -- funny and clever.

might vie for US Disney comic book rights ? Recently ,
the assets of Western Publications ( those that they
themselves owned ) were bought by an outfit...that
also bought the comic-book characters once owned by
Harvey Publications ( Richie Rich , Little Dot , etc.
) , a kids-oriented comic-book powerhouse in the US in
their own right ! With that many valuable
copyrights...Could they decide to start them up
again , and , to have even more , try to get the

Geppi propose to do ? He has a , basically , 100%
monopoly on distribution to comics shops in the U. S.
( and , I assume , Canada...) , BUT , I really think
that a new Disney comics line would have to have at
least some non-comics shop distribution to have a
chance of a half-cent coin in $crooge's Bin to succed
! What we he do regarding that ?

Arr, I see it now, I've noticed a couple of the Australian covers have been
redrawn ,perhaps to de-Americanize them.
The cover of the other one(No213) is a little harder to work out, It contains
the first Australian printing of the Barks story "Double Masquerade", but it's
cover is entirely different to the cover of the US first printing of that story
in WDCS#280 which came out at about the same time, so I wonder where they got
the Australian cover art from.

Oh, nononono. It don't work dat way! If Western sold out the rights to all
it's comic book properties, that would not be like when Harvey sold out.
Harvey *owned* its own characters. The only comic characters and stories
that Western owned were biggies like DOCTOR SPEKTOR and TRAGG AND THE SKY
GODS. They actually *did* have one real classic called TUROK SON OF STONE
about two peace-loving American Indians trapped in a prehistoric valley in
pre-Columbian Arizona... that character was sold years ago to a publisher
of American superhero comics who, naturally, immediately trashed it into a
typical American futuristic ultra-violent super-gunpower mess. Western did
not (could not) sell anyone any rights or any materials that pertains to
any old licenses they ever had, not Di$ney or Warners or ERB or anything
else. All the stories or art that those licenses utilized.... all that
belongs to the original copyright owners.
So that still leaves us with only Steve Geppi as our only hope, Obiwan
Kenobi. No other publisher would want a license that requires such
expertise to operate, involves dealing with such a sweet licensing
corporation as that one, and which offers so little hope of profits in the
American market. As a comic fan and Barks fan, Geppi would have the
expertise to operate the license using his friends at Gladstone and be
willing to support it with his other ventures. No other publisher would
have such intentions or abilities.
Well... maybe that company that bought TUROK could take Uncle $crooge and
turn him into SUPERMONEYDUCK and have him blast the bejeezis out of the
Beagle Boys with Uzis... but I don't think Disney, bless their lil' hearts,
would allow that.
