Right now, I am reading Barks' WUS 45 : "Isle of Golden Geese", and in it, we
can see that Magica lives in... Duckburg!
Does anybody know why?
Maybe after all, she moved to Duckburg, or maybe she has two houses???

HelpToday's my birthday. If you not like my idea be nice with me :)
I dont understand none a piece of the mess about publications troubles in USA. I was talking about avalibity of launc a Disney comic book in Argentina and EVERYBODY look at me like I am crazy.
Well, maybe... I really want anothers fans reading Barks and Rosa and Strobl and Jippes, etc. I want have Don Rosa like guest in some comic convention in Buenos Aires... Maybe I am only dreaming. Comments about?
But well, I want talk about another thing. I read today the PICSOU that include "The Return of the 3 Caballeros" (great!) and a Barks history about the troubles of Donald like Fireman (pompier, bombero). This is a clear hommage to the noble volunteers of the brave fire corps, and is deliciously emotive.
I finished and did think: "That would be a great charity's comic book for the victims firemen's families of the WTC tragedy". And why not? Is like say... Hey, here is the comic we love, yet great, yet noble, and NECESSARY!!!!
Please I hope the people related to Disney et:al can say us if that's is or not a good idea: A especial comic book for charity... a born again Disney comic that make realize everybody how missing are Donald and Scrooge and the entire Duckburg family...
(I did write that, some hours ago. Now I am hearing about the unlash of the war... Alas!)

be a staggering challenge, and I seriously doubt that Random House has any
interest in tackling it. Indeed, rather than attempt to run a comics line
themselves, they'd be far more likely to look for companies to license from
them.

One thing I was reminded about when the bombs struck World Trade Center, was
when the canon ball in "Terror of the Beagle Boys" struck the McDuck tower.
As we know from Don Rosa's "Incident at the McDuck tower", this building is
a place where LOTS 'N LOTS of people live and work. When a canon ball hit
the building and went RIGHT THROUGH it (and the building probably was
completely damaged), we can only pray that noone got hurt.
I'm not sure about this, but hasn't the McDuck tower by some artists been
drawn to be two twin towers? Anyway, I think of these buildings - the one in
New York and the one in Duckburg - as very similar.

be a good action of revenge to bomb and kill 10 000 innocent Afghans? How
many innocent people has to die before this tragedy stops?

As an American Who knows a lot of people affected by all this, I have been
absolutely horrified at all of the "lets bomb the suckers! go usa!!"
sentiments I have seen floating around. I don't want us to bomb *anyone* I
don't know what i'd do if I were in charge, but the whole thing gives me a
headache. I think Ghandi said it the best:
"An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind"

Hello!
I wait so many time to respond this question from Luca because of two
things:
1-I was with so few time to use Internet, since I worked and studied a lot
on this two last months, this includes a little of laziness, off course! ;)
2-Just last saturday I remember to ask Waldyr Igayara about "O Casamento do
Pato Donald"!
I agree with Luca that it deserves a better re-edition, maybe on "Zio
Paperone", hem Luca? ;)
Ok, what I discovery is that this story, as many others "new-things" on the
"brazilian gold age", was a group creation. As Iga(yara) told me, when a
character, a comic, or something related to Disney was not going fine, they
did brainstorming sections to find solutions and to create new things. As
Iga told me, in example:
-"There's something wrong with Mickey. Let's do the...Spacial Mickey!"
And the same goes to this story, in the begin, they want's to do a REAL
Donald and Daisy marriage that begins, but that on the end, will end, and
everything will change. Yes, a divorce!!!!!!!! And they want this to be
more, really doing a revolution on the Disney Comics, in general. But this
idea was discarted, since they've know that Disney-Brasil, on that
time(1987, I guess), represented by Redibra, was not so interested with this
many experiments that was hapening a lot on the 80's. In 1985, Abril had
some problems with the "Disney-Teen" project, but this one was going even
faraway.
So the story became a "What if...", and it's all a dream. It's not true that
the "dreans clouds" was putting on the second edition, 'cause of
censorship...in fact, it's on the SECOND edition that this happen, but I
assume it's just an error. Well, I'm here with just the first edition, so I
can't check...but I think I'm remenbering it right.
It's good to remember that it's part of a SERIES of "dream-stories", with
others Disney characters, so we had Fethry as Duckburg's mayor(in my
oppinion, the best one of the series! Even better than Donald and Daisy's
marriage!), Z? Carioca working(WORKING!!!)as an executive, Goofy as a
cinema-star and Madam Min finally ending with her love, the Phanton Bloot.
This last one wasn't so good as the others one's, I think.
It's interisting to note that it was drew by many different artist, but we
can't say WHO is the person behind the scripts...that's what I'll try to
discovery, since Igayara's has no idea of who can did it!
We know that the main writters on Abril in 1987 are:
Gerson Borlotti Teixeira, Arhtur Faria Jr(that's with us on this list and
are NOT responsible for this one!), Renato Canini and Luiz Aguiar.
So, it end's the "I hope so" first part of the "history behind the most
famous brazilian Disney story"!

I bought my first US179 in the summer of 1996 from a "post dealer" with all
the rest of collection of Uncle Scrooge. i payd for it $35 asking myself why
that item "so ordinary" costs so much (but now I remember about US198 i
bought for the same price). Every year by Overstreet price guide check all
my american books. This year I wondered. US179 in NM condition values
$450!!!!!
Iwas going to check, My copy seem in that kind of condition!
On E-bay august/2001 there was a seller of US179 in VG condition.?
I bid the auction, i won an d i payd for it $216.60. I took each one and
check, what is important to establish NM condition?

A "new" character, created in Italy. He is the young Donald Duck, living in

BTW, also if I like Paperino Paperotto stories, I like a lot more the

Magica de Spell - which witch?

Hi!
I have recieved some e-mails from Christoffer Vedberg from Sweden. He has
visited my Duckburg page, and he wrote to me in an e-mail:
"I´ve checked out the site and everything looks very good. its only one I
think is wrong. On Magica you have set her year of birth to 1800. But Magica
is not real witch. She is a normal person who uses magic spells to perform
magic. And in Barks and Rosa stories she never flies on a broom. she takes
the airplane as a normal person. I think Magica is not older than Donald.
She doesn´t seem to know anything about that century in a of ducks dimes and
destinies she says somting like this "I should desguise myself. Maybe they
burn witches in this century" She would have known for sure if she were born
then."
Magica's year of birth is not important for me, the year 1900 I just made up
so that the field would not be empty. But about Magica not being a real
witch?
I have always thought of Magica as a witch. But now - I'm confused.
What's your opinions on this matter, dear friends?

My Gyro story - almost dead

Hi!
I just found out that Don Rosa will write a Gyro-story where, amongst other
things, Little Helper will be invented. Therefor, I guess my script
(previously mentioned on this list a hundred times) now is rubbish for
Egmont, and that it never will be printed - or even DRAWN.
Of course this cracks my poor little heart and makes me burst into tears,
but... life must go on. I'm feeling blue and wanted to shear this with you.
