I would like to see verified that this information really is true.
Any information about the status of Barks-related USA archives
would be welcome to me.

On 27-12-2003, Claudio Eckert discovered one of the remaining quotes of
the Barks Christmas Quote Quiz. Here are the remaining three quotes.

2. "It's a shame to spend our Christmas savings, but what else can we
do in a case like this?"
(Picture shows a piggy bank.)

6. "Here is the deed - all filled out! Sign it on the dotted line!"

7. "If I can keep anything BAD from happening to it, I may get a
four-dollar bonus for Christmas!"
(Page shows a Disney character with a shovel and a wheelbarrow.)

Excluding the DCML emails. Otherwise I'd have to admit that NO ONE
ever emails me... (Sob! Sob!) :-)

Poor poor Dani?l! This isn't true, pal, and you know it :-)

> WDC&S 184 ("Three Un-Ducks") (Jan '56).

The story mentions cod liver oil instead of castor oil.

The poisoned sandwiches story (WDC 72) refers to castor oil, in panel 9.6
(the bottle hold by Donald) and panel 10.7 ("Castor oil! Horse liniment!
I pecac! Oil of skunkbreath! Snake bite serum!").

What's the difference between cod liver oil and castor oil?
Cod liver oil comes from whales, doesn't it?

In The Netherlands, Giving children cod liver oil ("levertraan") in/around
autumn and winter (the months with an "r" in their names) has been common
practrice. At least up to the 1950s/1960s, I guess. I believe this habit
has vanished since then. I haven't heard about castor oil ("wonderolie"),
but I guess that's just because I never thought of a difference between
the two.

What is/was the sense of drinking cod liver oil or castor oil?
Are there still people or countries who still have this habit?

Doesn't sound very logical. I would expect cod liver oil to come from cod.

Could it be "Letter to Santa" (CP 1)?

WOW!

I can't wait seeing that article!
It's strange - a model made on a writing-desk in a bedroom with toy-tools
and bad materials is published in America's number one comic book!!! (And I
don't even live in America!)
UNCLE $CROOGE!!! Unbelievable.

My friends says that I've got leisure-problems because It's nearly a year
since I started building that model (yes, it IS sick), but it has become a
cool decoration (and a great table!).
(Today I made the #1 pidestal, by the way.)

Happy new year to all DCML-folks!!

Mats

Great news! That's nice. Congratulations again, Mats!

Someone in private wrote, in part:

"...I'm in search of an old Donald Duck story (published in Greece in
"GELIO KAI CHARA", no 45 I believe, some forty years ago),in which

My advice was to subscribe to DCML. But now I'm curious, myself.
Does anyone recognize this story?

Wrong. Where do you see a deed in that story? As I've already hinted,
the mentioned deed is obviously shown.

Remaining three quotes of the Barks Christmas Quote Quiz:

I just sent out an email with the erroneous subject title
"Re: Castor oil vs. cod liver oil". That email can be ignored.

The correct email is "Zeppelin story in which Scrooge is believed
to be dead". It has NOTHING to do with castor oil or cod liver oil.
(Coincidence excluded).

6. "Here is the deed - all filled out! Sign it on the dotted line!"
----------

I can't remember the name of the story, but it reminds me of that story where
Uncle Scooge wants Donald's house and land to build his factory on. Donald
wants a higher price, so Scrooge does whatever he can to try and drive Donald
and the boys out of their house, including using Will-o-the-wisps.
