My answer is not. As far I can remember (thus I don't have photocopies of
this part) I put there a small caricature of my friend/artist Xavi Vives. My
compliments to you for being able to realize that there was a change of
style in such a small character, in a corner of a picture.

The latest Gemstone Mickey Mouse #259 has only one 8-page MM story!
The duck story "Battle Beasties" has 14 pages. The most notable thing
I saw in this story was a square chicken (from Lost in the Andes and
Return to Plain Awful) as one of the beasties (page 6 panel 4 and also
flying and more obvious on page 14 panel 3). Just a cameo role.

I just took a photo of the panel, you can look att it here:

When I look at the panel again, doesn't the person in the yellow
circle look a litle like Unca Carl? He is also visible on the center

The cover of WDCS 638 shows Donald painting Bolivar's dog house, looking
the other way and painting an angry Bolivar at the same time.
On the inside of the cover, it says "cover art and color: Egmont".
I recognize the cover (flipped, though, but I recognize it) from a Donald
Duck & Co, but with totally different colours.
That puzzles me. Has Egmont made two sets of colours for this cover? In
that case, why? Is making several sets of colours for an illustration or
cover normal for one publisher? I know that all stories are coloured by the
individual publishers, but in this case it means that EGMONT made two sets
of colours.
I know nothing about how comic colouring work, which is why this interested
me.

The cover was used for the regular weeklies in Scandinavia. But also on the more "glossy" Donald Duck Sonderheft in Germany.
So maybe Egmont had it re-coloured for Germany, and Gemstone uses the German colouring?
I'm just guessing here.

I think Gyro is one of the most enigmatic characters in Duckburg. He is
obviously a genius, yet he is poor and lives in a shack. He doesn't have
much of a social life, although I seem to remember a Tony Stroble story
from the '70s where he had a girlfriend.
I wonder: Doesn't he know his own worth, or is it that he simply doesn't
care about money or status?
What do the list members think? Does anyone know if there has ever been a
duck story that dealt with this question?

Is that from Mother Goose tales perhaps ?
I had tried to figure it out myself, but couldn't come up with
anything better than a cross between a taller Tom Thumb and a
piperless Pied Piper of Hameln... :-)
However, now I can see how clever te plot trick of tying up
together this character with the pignapping was... OF COURSE
he was the prime suspect... :-)
And I can't help quoting one of the best gags, the (fake) evidence
of the pignapping found at Tom's place and produced before
Old King Cole in the form of...
1 - A sailor's hat
2 - A fiddle
3 - A roll of sausages... :-)

Been a long time since my grandmother recited it to me, but I think it
is a Mother Goose item. What I do remember is:
Tom, Tom, the Piper's son,
Stole a pig and away he run,
The pig got loose and killed a goose,
and Tom got put in the calaboose!
That would probably be just one variation on the rhyme (calaboose is an
archaic term for jail).

Susan not only colors, but works up the credit pages- among a plethora
of other duties - and in this instance forgot to give herself credit.

That might have been possible, but the colours are different on the
Donald Duck Sonderheft, too. There Donald is painting the dog-kennel
green, the sky is light blue and the fence is light brown. So maybe
Gemstone changed a few colours or there's even a third colouring
existing.
