I just thought I'd welcome "L.Gori" out of the lurk-mode. I wasn't
even aware he was lurking.
That's Leonardo Gori, one of the foremost Italian comic
fans/collectors/experts, whom I met on my visit to Italy. He is also one of
a trio (or I suspect a quartet with one member I've yet to meet) of the best
known Italian Disney comics buffs, along with Luca Boschi (who might join us
here someday if he isn't already lurking) and the well-known Alberto
Becattini (who won't ever be joining us here if what he told me is true
about his not being the computer-type). The core of our group is
Scandanavian/American, which is such a different Disney-comics culture from
Italy, so Leonardo's contributions will be a great help in learning about
that huge corner of the Disney comics world.
Another by-the-way message: don't we have a list member or two in
Brazil? Perhaps they can help me find out about a nice article about my
"Lo$" that I'm told appeared in a major newspaper there, in Rio I'd assume.
What a strange feeling to find out that there are articles being written and
published about me in "remote" corners of the world, and I don't even know
about it. I found out about this article because the Brazilian article,
which is said to have been based on some Italian newspaper articles, was
mentioned in a Scandanavian paper somewhere. Boing.

The Disney Zorro dates back to the old Walt Disney Presents tv program (or
perhaps "Disneyland" as it was originally called). Disney did one called
"The Sign of Zorro" which was successful enough to be made into a series
in 1957. The show ran for three years and I remember it from those days
and from a later revival in the 60s. This is probably the b&w show you've
seen in 20-minute spots (sans commercials, that would be about the right
length per episode). The show starred Guy Williams, an Italian actor who
was an expert swordsman.
I have taped all but about five episodes--I did this in the mid 80s before
the Disney Channel colorized them. I also have a few of the original Dell
comics and Gold Key reprints, as well as the Eclipse Comics reprint of the
Alex Toth stories. I have two copies of the Whitman Publishing Co.
novelization of the tv show as well. Would like to have the original
metal lunchbox and thermos offered by the Aladdin Co., but it is a pricey
collectible now. I remember those from ~1960; both of my brothers had them.
Another expensive "find" would be the complete set of bubblegum cards;
last I heard, a good, complete set would fetch ~$600.
ZORRO is something of an arcane area of Disney collecting, I think. Davy

Some people have both kinds of subscriptions. I won't do anything
with you of course as I know that you've deliberately have chosen it
that way. My intentions are to move people who subscribe and then
drown in more messages than they can handle (and therefore haven't
read any instructions or would do whatever I send to them) will get
the digests instead, as that's more manageable.
Unfortunately I don't know who these people are, as they look just
like normal lurkers until they panic and desperately try to find a way
to get off the list.

through the incoming mail? "Well, this looks like a dull
posting, so I won't send it to SonicPC." Like anyone
would even have the _time_?! Just how does SonicPC expect
the "editors" to cut down on the amount of e-mail when

combined activity of the membership? Or is this
really an unwitting request for the digest format,
which isn't really a digest but a bundle (same amount

Hello everyone:
Marvel put out Disney Comic Hits #4 yesterday. It's Toy Story with stills
from the movie available in square bound ($5) and newsstand ($2.50). The
newsstand edition uses thinner coated paper and the colors are slightly
darker. It's a nice little book and reminds me of those photonovels so
popular in the 1970s.

looking at Italian Disney comics in an entirely different way since they
