But I think,that "DonRosa"-Comics go together with the LTB or other
comic-books too.
Many stories in it are italien-but I think that can be change-or not.
There are Flemming Andersen`s stories in it.I don`t think he will be an
Italien!

I too was subscribing to WDCS, DD and US in "64. I seem to recall at
the time a concern about the "low" subscription rate at WDCS of 400,000,
after the three million high of the early fifties. I had felt that the
"quality" had roughly deteriorated with the subscription rate from the
early fifties to mid sixties. I felt the change began about around the
time of "Dell's Pledge to Parents"(1954). Less violence, "swearing" and
slang. Fewer double entendres. Less color. I've wondered if this was a
spillover of the McCarthy Army hearings and the general moral hysteria
of the times. It sure seemed to me that the comics had been generally
"sterilized/sanitized/dumbed down" to some degree after the late
forties/early fifties.
I think that Disney's poor management of their creative talent has long
been a factor in the decline of the Disney comics line in the US. The
way they chopped up some of Barks later stories says volumes to me about
why they were going down the tubes.
It was before my time, but I always thought one could be "hopped up" on
any of a number of (illegal) drugs. The default drug, I had thought,
though, was hooch/weed/mary jane/pot/grass. Cannabis is closely related
to Hops, the ingedient in beer. I wonder if there is any reason to
suspect a connection(if my assumptions above are correct).
