Hi all!
Just thought that some of you might be interested in whats going on in the
Scandinavian Donald Duck weeklies, so here are the highlights of issues
4-7/99.
(This info will be useful for all of you scandinavians that hesitates
buying the comics, since they are packaged in plastic and contents can't be
checked before buying.) Please note that I don't have access to the
original english titles to the stories, therefore only the names of the
creators will be listed and no title...
# 4: (Out Jan. 25)
Opens with a 12 page DD story by Pat and Carol McGreal / Vicar. Very good
story. Pat and Carol always write entertaining stories, and this is not an
exception. (D 97574)
Then follows a 9 page MM story by Stefan Petrucha / Cesar Ferioli. A
story... eh...filled with gags. In this story we also see Horace the way he
used to act in the good old Gottfredson days. This is the Horace I really
like to see more of.

There are also a nice Dutch Mau Heymans story and some old Mickey sundays
worth looking out for in the issue.

And again a very nice MM story written by Stefan Petrucha. This time drawn

issue.

This is the pick of the bunch!
A *brilliant* 12 page lead story by Kari Korhonen / Branca. This is my
favorite story by Kari so far and the art from Branca is just *perfect*.
New art by Branca is not too common on the pages of the weeklies so I'm
always enjoying seeing new stuff from his hand. Never seen such expressions
on Donalds face before. Great stuff! (D 97456 , hope you note the code
number for possible future publication in the states Gary!)
There 's also another story by Kari and with art by Massaroli (An artist
trying to draw like Branca.) in this issue. ( D97389)
A 10 page Mickey story by Sarah Kinney / Rodriques is also the reason for
picking this issue as my favorite of the four issues mentioned here. Sarah
is one of my absolute favorite manuscriptwriters at Egmont, and when I hear
about a new story by her I just cant wait to lay my hands on it. No one
captures *emotions* in Disney comics the way Sarah do. A classic love theme
and a beautiful iceprincess falling in love with Mickey makes this a story
worth melting for :-) ( D 98141)
+ the usual classic Mickey sundays and the first part of a 1978 Sutter /
Vicar serial. And this issue also comes with a very small extra comic book.
Only 4,1 x 5,6 cm! Featuring the Carl Barks story about the giant ants.
(One of his worst stories. Maybe they made the book so small so that people
wouldn't read it :-)
Maybe not, because there's also a magnifying glass included in this issue.)

stories than those I've mentioned above.

I'm going to delurk to publicly state my mourning for Gladstone's comic
books, my thrill of finally seeing "War of the Wendigo," and my despair
over the future of "Disney" comics in America. I really don't want to
move to Europe, but it looks like I might have to! :-)

Don, if I understand you correctly, you're saying that--while you have to be
careful what you post on here and elsewhere on the internet--you can safely

I'm not a lawyer, but I used to be a reporter and many years ago I took a
class on communication law. Copyright laws are very tricky and I wouldn't even
try to explain them. But I think I do have a fairly good grasp of the basics
of libel and slander laws. And I don't believe you can write anything you want
in a private e-mail and be completely protected by the law.
In reality, of course, anything you say in a private conversation or a private
letter or e-mail is very unlikely to land you in a court of law. But it's
certainly not a given.
For example, let's say you told someone (Person A) that one of his employees
(Person B) was stealing from the company and this resulted in Person B getting
fired. You could certainly be sued (and probably very successfully) if 1) you
had been wrong about Person B wasn't stealing; 2) you had deliberately lied or
recklessly made a false statement without checking the facts; and 3) the false
statement can be traced back to you.
Freedom of speech is the cornerstone of American democracy. Anyone can say
anything they want--in private or public. But if a person deliberately lies
(or makes a reckless false statement) that harms someone then they can be held
accountable.
Naturally, there's a big difference between a private e-mail and what is
written in a public forum such as this mailing list. But that doesn't mean
that you still don't have to be careful about what you write.
I have some more to say about this, but I'll save that for a private e-mail
that I'm sending to you.

The only place I've seen anything like this are exactly those tiny lil' candy tubes (in Finland called "Smarties"), which had "Disney" characters on top of them some time ago, probably to boost their sales. The total size of the whole tube and the figurine was about 30-35 cm (about 1 feet and 3 inches?).

Just a quick note to say that an all new issue of the Swedish Donaldist
publication "NAFS (k)uriren" (#30) came with the mail today!
A really nice looking publication with a cover by Cavazzano.
