Something weird is happening in the Digest biz, but I'll reply to two
questions anyway, and see if they make it through.

PIIKKIS:
Yes, everything you said about the control I have over the use of my work is
correct. The control is nil. Even if I quit working for one Disney publisher
in favor of another, that would only effect who would have to pay me... it
would not effect who (regarding any licensed publisher) could use my work or
how they could change it at their whim. This has been discussed here on
several occasions.
I wonder if that original questioner (Christian-Peters) was asking if I
could control which publisher I work directly for. And the answer to that
is, or course, YES... but there have been times in the past when one
corporation tried to manipulate even that, though they naturally failed due
to the honestly and integrity of my editor.

MARCO wonders why I don't send my original English script to someone in
private e-mail. Mainly because I don't have my scripts typed out on computer
files. If you would like to type them up, feel free to e-mail them to anyone
you wish. With my blessing. It's enough that I answer 100% of the e-mail and
snailmail that pours in here every day! Havahart!

Ok, if anyone had trouble accessing this, I'm sorry. I should have known
better than to put file this size to piece-of-cr*p like Geocities where
it's almost impossible to get out anything larger than head of a needle.

Man, what a beautiful cover! Thanks, Teme. I wish Gladstone could have used it.

And now, the main question: Anybody know where the D.U.C.K is on this
cover? Down on the rocks beneath Hortense's hooves???

The D.U.C.K. is a little down from Hortense's front-right hoof, on the =
waterdrops. See? It's easier to see if you turn the cover sideways.

Fellow Quackeroos:

My older son and myself spent quite a bit of time yesterday trying to spot
the D.U.C.K. in Rosa's most recent pin-up appearing in PICSOU #325, but to
no avail. Is it that there is no dedication in this one? (Don?).

However, what I DID notice was one of our ML members being "immortalized",
with his full name appearing as street signs. I'm sure all of you that
picked up that issue of PICSOU must have noticed "Didier Ave." and "Ghez Blvd."!

The "new" PICSOU has a new logo and is much fatter--132 pages to be exact!
75 of these are comic-pages, whereas a "typical" old issue contained ~60
comic-pages. That constitutes a 25% increase in the comic page-count,
compared to the 20% cover price hike.

With comics like PICSOU and ZIO PAPERONE and I MAESTRI DISNEY, our friends
across the Atlantic shouldn't despair too much over the possible final
demise of Disney comics in the U.S. Please, don't misunderstand me: I also
feel vary bad about this possibility becoming eventuality. Gladstone comics
was what brought me back to the fold in the mid-80s when I lived in the
States, and since then I have bought virtually everything Gladstone (and
Disney) put out. Actually, until ~1996, all I were buying was Gladstones and
the Greek KOMIX.

I advise all our American friends who feel depressed about the demise of
Disney comics in their country, to look at alternatives, at substitutes.
Yes, I know that many will say that nothing beats the original, and I will
agree. I will miss not reading Rosa stories in the original. However, I'm
thankful at still being able to get his and many other artists' stories from
such GREAT mags like PICSOU or ZIO PAPERONE, or KOMIX. And yes, many will
probably counter-argue by saying that they can't possibly learn Greek. Well,
if not Greek, then French or Italian might not be so crazy of an idea. For
example, I only had two years of formal French at the University, but by
reading all those PICSOUs in the last couple of years, I now find myslef at
a position of understanding ~90 of what I read! Knowing English helps
immensely. My "Italian" story amazed even myself. I NEVER had any formal
Italian; however, after reading ZPs, IMDs, and "Topolinos" in the last year,
I can now understand ~80% or more of what I read. Therefore, I advise those
Americans who want to continue their Disney "fix", to simply subscribe to
those great comics. Every month or so, they'll be getting little "treasures"
in their mailboxes.
