About the little character with a beard in "THe Crown of The Crusader Kings",
I wanted to know his original name .I have read in Barksbase it was Monsieur
Mattressface, but did Barks give him a first name?

What does Mattressface means? Does that mean "Somebody whose face looks like
a mattress, that is to say the thing you have on a bed?" Is this a joke
because of his beard?

In France, in the Barks story, he was called Dutoc (Toc means for instance
something which looks like Gold but isn't real Gold in fact, but plastic or
painted metal) in the"Fabulous Philosopher's stone", and Barbedrue in Don
Rosa's story (Barbe : Beard, "Drue" : Scrubby")
What is the Firstname of this character in the original Story?

(That would be very good to create a "Html RosaBase" like the "Html
BarksBase", which would include all the names of the characters used in Don's
stories)

I think he has a different name in the complete Carl
Barks (with the best translation).

I guess this is the descendant of Jacques de Mollay
the templiers who was sentenced to death in Paris,
after he said the king of France and the Pope will
perish.

Was there any crown intended as a gift to the Khan
from Europe? I've never heard of that.

In the first edition of Picsou, the last page was left
out because of lack of space. But in the album
anthology, you're right, that page was restored (I
forgot that).

In page 14, is written something vertically next the second panel "Color:
sunny day with blue sky" with an arrow (The panel in which Scrooge thinks
about the Crown, HDL think about the animals they will discover and Donald
thinks about girls)
Is the map on panel 6 page 12 written in french in the original version? I
was just curious about what the names on this map would look like in English
alnguage)
Does the "Bay of Kolyouchine" ewist for real (page 3 panel 3, the map of
Brutopia)
I don't know if I have to put this map in my maps section... I don't use to
put maps of real word in it, but it is not russia, it is a fictious state...
Is it the first time that Brutopia is said to be in Russia?
Is Brutopia Russia or is it a state near Russia?

I still wonders about the existence of that crown,
"allegance" of the European kings to a Khan. This is a
part of history I'm totally unaware of, so maybe you
can enlight me? or was it created for the Ducks
universe?

About Brutopia, the villain looks like Nikita
Krouchtchev (spelling?) so in Barks' mind this would
mean it is the Duck equivalent of USSR or Russia.
But like for Calisota which is between Oregon and
California, it may be just very well be a forgotten
small country in the north of Russia.

We use information from various sources, for instance printed indexes. I
think this particular information is from a Gottfredson index by Stefan
Schmidt, published in a German fanzine. Or maybe from Alberto Becattini's
Dell index book.

We had a lot of these cases (of partial information) in Inducks.
Fortunately, most comics are now fully indexed, or they will be in the near
future.

Alberto Becattini does not list any *new* material in these comics. So if
there's any long story in them, it would be a newspaper reprint.

Nope.

If this was a gag that made sense, it must have been some ancient joke
popular from Barks' youth. I never did understand why someone with beard
would have a name like "matressface". What sort of mattress looks like hair?

That's correct, I named him after the last Grand Master of the Knights
Templar. Some readers have asked me why I did not make it clear that he was
a descendant of that Master -- because I sometimes put little hidden pearls
into the story details to allow an astute reader to discover them on their
own.

The only fact in that story that is not absolutely true is that the Crown
was taken to be given to the Khan of Cathay. And yet, maybe it was, I dunno.
And I don't know that E. R. Nordenskiold actually had the lost logbook of
Columbus, but it's the sort of thing he collected and studied, so if anyone
ever had it, he would have... that's why I knew that using him would be a
great way to tie Finland into that plot which I already had in my notes. But
the existance of the crown and all else I say about the Templars and their
treasure is true.

It was not an accident that he was named Mollay, but if he looks like your
astronomy professor, that was pure chance. Or maybe it was in the stars.

The labels in my script (who knows what the translators do with or to them)
are, top to bottom, "Arctic Ocean", "Siberian Sea", "Kolyuchin Bay", and
"Siberia".

Sure, though I don't know about your spelling -- and is *is* where E. R.
Nordenskiold spent the winter of 1878.

Is Brutopia Russia or is it a state near Russia?

Barks made it quite obvious that he was implying that Brutopia was the
equivalent of Russia or the USSR. I don't say it's exactly Russia, otherwise
I would not call it Brutopia, I'd call it Russia. I place it as occupying
the eastern third of Russia (Siberia), as I place Calisota as the northern
third of California. But you can decide for yourself where either one is.

An eficcient curse! He predicted Pope and King would die on the place of the
year after his death and they both died before the year passed...
Same prediction (curse?) was sayed by Rasputin around the luck of Russia...
He was killed in 1916...
