No, that was all a matter of mistakes. When we first put the story
online at Sigvald's pages Sigvald told about it about in on his
favorite newsgroup in norwegian, about comics. Don reads that group and
saw Sigvald's writing about page 1 and 26 of the comic being online
(he didn't see that all the others inbetween were there too, because
the text there is in norwegian) - so he asked us to take it down so we
would't reveal the ending.
When we had mailed a bit and assured that all 26 pages were there we
put it online again on the mentioned page and Sigvald's pages with
stories not published in Scandinavia.
The link you mention, Michael would maybe be the french scans or
something - all 26 pages are online the other places.

It starts to be quite funny to read about this story. There's no
reference to Mickeyville in the american version, but a reference to
the planes for Louisville (Don's hometown) always being late.
In the swedish version the filgt numbers are actually member numbers of
certain members from the swedish donaldist club. The swedish translator
Stefan Di?s was a founder of that club. - I find that extremely nice -
and that comic is one I just realise I would like to have.

kevin howard argues but he does not persuade that the united states is
cowardly in pursuing its foreign policy against military targets, but
terrorists are not cowardly when they blow up civilian targets and kill 6000+
people. military leaders who do not take all steps possible to keep their
troops "from beyond the range of retaliation" has failed in their
responsibilities. the idea in a war is not to die for you country, but to
make your enemies die for their country.

when he writes that " In the matter of courage (a morally neutral virtue):
whatever may be said of the perpetrators of Tuesday's slaughter, they were
not cowards," he is so sadly misguided that probably nothing will convince
him otherwise. there is no courage or bravery in attacking and killing
unarmed civilian men, women and children who do not know they are under
attack and have no opportunity to defend themselves; these people, so-called,
were the worst kinds of cowards: faceless, indiscriminate, murdering
thousands of individuals "from beyond the range of retaliation."

mr. howard argues that the people of the united states are somehow being
hoodwinked by their leadership because " A wide spectrum of public figures,
in and out of office, who are strongly opposed to the policies being pursued
abroad by this
Administration apparently feel free to say nothing more than that they stand
united behind President Bush." That's because they support this particular
policy: retaliating against enemies who have attacked the US with force of
arms. Whether or not you agree that this will eliminate terrorism or even
whether terrorism should be eliminated -- you don't state your position on
this -- I'm surprised you don't agree that the US should respond to this
horrid crime against humanity.

mr. howard says that the world trade center is not pearl harbor. he's right.
pearl harbor was a military target attacked by a government. the world trade
center was not a militrary target; it housed no ships, tanks, rifles,
ammunition, bombs, fighter planes or soldiers. it was not attached by a
government.

i listened to the president's address to the legislature. i didn't hear "The
unanimously applauded, self-congratulatory bromides of a Soviet Party
Congress" as mr. howard did. i hear the country's leadership united behind
the president to uphold his oath of office "to preserve, protect and defend
the Constitution of the United States." that congress supports the president
on this response in no way means that it now unanimously accepts his policies
to drill in the alaskan wilderness, limit energy conservation, expand the
hole in the ozone layer, ignore curbs on chemical warfare and develop an
anti-ballistic missle defense, which is both nonsense and impossible.

mr. howard implies it was different after pearl harbor. he's wrong again. if
he'd bothered to watch the film of fdr's address to congress asking for a
declaration of war, he'd have seen an even more divided congress, with much
more verbal opponents of the president's policies before december 7
applauding him vigorously over and over, then voting for war with only one
dissent.

i agree that we should "not be stupid together." what should be be, mr.
howard? you say that being strong is "not all America has to be." what else
should it be mr. howard? you don't say.

I read your mail, fastly, and I can say...

I only remember a Strobl' story inside referring to Grandma duck and a
young nice female Duck in his farm with a hat with a star put into (she
should be a western - Movie star ...)

Well, it's NOT a Strobl story. It's a Frank McSavage one, IMHO, one of my
favourite stories with Grandma... "Grandma Duck in Hollywood", published in
an old Christmas Parade (# 5, 1953) with a wonderful art. In that story, her
name is not Elviry, is Abigail (in Italian "Rita Papera"), but, I want to
think that's only a nickname... It deserves a reprint, in Italy, too...
Maybe you read the reprint in a "Albi della Rosa", published in the early
1960. It's the second and last print of that story, in Italy. More than 41
years ago!!!

Actually, the drawing is in "Topolino" n. 867... Well, that Donald Duck
looked familiar to me: in fact, it's taken from the cover of "Topolino" n.
810 (June 1971), which in turn is the Italian reprint of the cover of
"Donald Duck" n. 136 (March 1971, titled "All the Crabby Ducks": Harry,
maybe a [desc] should be added to the Inducks... something like "reporter DA
and angry DD pursued by Indians").

There's no such story in "Topolino" n. 810. But then, the background of the
cover is green, and not blue as you remember... Maybe there was another
Italian comic whose cover was partly redrawn from the one of DD 136,
replacing Daisy and the Indians with the crying nephew ? Or, also, was the
Donald in the cover of DD 136 taken from a previous American cover (not very
likely, but...) ?
I must say that the gag in TL 867 (by a mr. Antonio Borella) is rather
well-built: apart from the addition of the nephew, Donald is not simply
traced, but some details are added or modified... it doesn't look like the
work of a reader. But I might be wrong...

:-) Yes, and so do I, but let's be frank on this one. George W. Bush is
perhaps not exactly the state leader one would think of as being the
most intelligent person in the world. However, this fact might also
have its benifits. Having this kind of indecisive leadership might cool
down some of the extremists on the other side, who simply wish to wipe
out every living creature in Afghanistan.

To be honest with you, at the beginning I feared that Mr. Bush would
promptly start such actions, but this has not happened. Fortunately!

Naive, as it can seem, I am still convienced that terrorism and evil
can only be stopped by knowledge, caring, love, education and freedom
and many more. Values which are essential to the world we live in.

We can but only spread that message IMO. Bombing has never ever made
anyone happy!

I watched it live when the second tower crashed, I was so furious,
shortly afterwards, I went down partly dizzy for cigs at my local shop
who happens to be own by an Iraqi who commented on the situation that
"this must have been expensive" (refering to the WTC itself). His
Danish isn't perfect, but I was just about to get really pissed off,
because that was not really the issue. Who cares what it costs in terms
of money anyway?!

For a fragment of a second (although being pure socialist/"liberal") I
hated every foreign, but immediately realised that this is NOT the way
to treat things.

Well, those were my 5 ?re on this.

...something I've realised, Europe and America have become a bit closer
during these troubled times. And that I like :-)
