Hello, fellow list members. On 13 Sept. I received a one-word note from
Anne Lise Rydland of Norway reading: "drawin", with a 61K attachment
titled: "drawingMSDraw". I couldn't open the attachment. Perhaps it is a
MacIntosh graphics file, without the conversion file to allow it to be read
by a PC system.
Anne Lise, if you are reading this, please let me know if you intended it
for me to view. If so, please let me know what is in it.
Any other DCML members: If you have seen it, please let me know what it
is. I don't remember seeing Anne Lise's name on our list. Does anyone

I recently read ``Paperino e le teste "a zero"'' (ITL 259-B) by
Martina/Carpi. I was surprised to see that this story was a duck
version of Gottfredson's story with Mickey running a detective agency,
with exactly the same plot and gags. Does anyone know if this was meant
as a tribute to Gottfredson, or if it was just a rip-off?

Of course it was a tribute. But there was no way to publicly state it was, at the time. (On Topolino there is no place for a "note" saying "this is a tribute").

convention was the *worst* one that I have attended in the past 20 years!

stead of making fan drawings)!
But Ivo's second observation was very true: the convention have us
Disney-comic fans the feeling that we are not alone. And in that respect
this was one of the *best* Dutch conventions that I've attended in the past
20 years.
We had a meeting near the "Donald Duck" stand, with Andreas & wife, Angela &
Roy, Arthur, Dani?l, Henri, and Fran?ois. I guess Duco was already gone long
before. And I haven't seen Ivo either, unfortunately.
We chatted a lot, also with the Disney artists who happened to be nearby. (I
hope to have some photographs on-line tomorrow.)
After the convention closed, six of us had a nice (Italian) dinner in the
centre of Den Bosch, and a drink on a terrace afterwards.
So we had a lot of talking and meeting people, and I liked it very much.
I think I'll attend next year's convention, but probably *only* for that
reason...

Be careful when you get messages with attachments from people you don't
know. I got a Norwegian message last week, and it contained a computer
virus. I heard from a few other DCML people that they got the virus too.
You may have been lucky that you couldn't open the attachment. Otherwise
your computer might have been infected.
Of course, the mail could also have contained a *real* drawing. But better
check that first.

Hello folks
No particular reason for me telling you all this; but
seeing as I have no tangible friends who understand my
Duck "interests" I feel compelled to mention my latest
"finds" to my nebulous net buddies who share my
madness...
I was on holiday in Wales at a great place called Hay
On Wye...a town full of second hand bookshops; they
call it the Town Of Books.
I found:
A 1948 copy of WDC&s (very tatty, and falling to bits,
but only cost one pound!)
An interesting political work entitled "How To Read
Donald Duck"...anybody read it?
And a comic convention programme from the 70s signed
not only by Unca Carl, but also by John Stanley and
Joe Kubert, Mike Kaluta and Gil Kane and Harvey
Kurtzman...(ten quid, worth it, do you think?)
Not a bad haul, eh?
Just wanted to share that with somebody. Did I mention
that my girlfriend thinks that I'm crackers? Goes
without saying, I guess.

Yes, I have it somewhere... Not so significant for a modern
day Disney Comics reader -- perhaps interesting in a historical context.
The book is a political analysis written in the early 70'ies about

Hi,
I got an email from Anne Lise Rydland, too. It had two attachments, one of
which was harmless (telefax.doc), the other (activemov.exe) was infected
with a virus. Of course I didn't open the infected file, but my virus shield
told me it was infected.
At least now I know where Anne Lise Rydland's computer found my email
address.
