Growing up looking at old reprints of U$, and watching
Duck Tales, I'd wonder if U$'s money bin capacity had
ever exceeded its limitations or the gauge level of
(what is it) 98.8 ft? I always wished Scrooge would
get a little more money and cover that gauge up. I
figured he'd be happier then and not so grumpy. Which,
brings me to my question?
Had the money bin ever exceeded its capacity or the
level on the gauge? Where would Scrooge put the extra
money. See I'm asking this now just in comical
hindsight, but when I was little I "really" wanted to
know these things!

Strange but true, ...well maybe. In the 1979 British
movie "Escape To Athena," directed by George Pan
Cosmatos, there's a brief sequence near the beginning
where the camera pans across a decorated wall inside a
POW camp. During this sequence one can see what
appears to be a photograph (or a cover to a magazine)
of Donald reading a book titled "Mein Kempf." It might
of been Look Magazine or some military paper. It kind
of looks like someone may have used a marker to add
the title in. I still thought it was a funny little
moment.
I didn't think Disney would allow things like that.
Then again, there are sketches, paintings, and etc
where I have seen Carl Barks or another have donald
reading "Playduck." I'm very surprised Disney had
allowed even that. "I" think it's funny, but I didn't
think Disney would've. I guess I shouldn't think that
way. Mad Magazine made use of similiar altercations to
the same hilarious results. All in good fun.

Strange but true... I'm reading about Mr.Carl Barks in
"Carl Barks and the Disney Ducks," and I'm thinking
this man (at the time) is 91 years old! There he is
sitting down at a light table doing sketches &
tracings, touch up painting to a prototype sculpture,
and nit-picking about specifics while taking down
notes on corrections - At 91!!! God be merciful!
Lately, when I heard he was sick, I was afraid he'd
now be half out of his mind and on deaths door. And,
just a week ago he's up, sitting in a chair, and
checking his e-mail, which is in large print while
listening to Ben Crosby - at 99!! He's checking his
e-mail at 99!!! Isn't that amazing?

certain amount of Disney content and to have had some (at least one) Disney
covers.
Would any of the list members know more about the mexican Paquito ? Has

In "A Christmas for Shacktown", Scrooge's bin is over its capacity. The
results of adding another coin are disasterous (you'll have to read the
story for more info).
In a recent Barks drawing (1996 - yep, when he did 70 excellent drawings at
age 95), we see Scrooge in his bin, with his head against the ceiling. The
money is way above the 99 feet mark. Subtitle to that drawing: "I may have
to spend some of this stuff".

Does someone know if "The Unsafe Safe" (US 38) is among the much to few
stories of which Barks' original artwork still exists? And if so, is
the first half of page 4 among them?
For example, there is a Finnish book by Matti Eronen, titled "Carl Barks'
Surviving Comic Book Art" (1994), which lists Barks' surviving comic book
artwork. But I don't have this book myself, so I can't check.
BTW. Now that I mention this book, does someone also know if other
original comic book artwork by Barks has turned up since then?

10 min ago that my post office may not accept mail
sent to me with "O'Little Mouse Productions" as the
heading. The P.O. Box may only accept mail addressed
to "Fievel Elliott" and "W.B.N.W." (one of my local
access programs).
Anyway, the problem's now fixed. I just pray nobody's
(especially someone overwaters) already has mail being
forwarded back to them. I try and do a good deed and
it backfires on me.

I apologize for bringing up a matter of commerce here, but I thought people
might be interested to know that I'm auctioning a piece of William Van Horn's
comic book artwork on eBay. It's definitely nonDisney artwork, but because of
Van Horn's Disney connection I thought I'd announce it here.
Van Horn does not (and probably never will have) Internet access so I'm going
to be acting as his agent for this. The Ambrose art is a single-page gag from
Van Horn's "Ambrose" series which ran in Fantagraphics' Critters. The page is
listed as item 407003065 on eBay's site and the auction closes (U.S. west
coast time) on Friday afternoon, August 18. I've also got a cel from his
animation days and one of his children's book illustrations that I probably
put up for auction in the next day or so.
I'm not planning to announce any other future auctions. I hope this wasn't
too much of a commercial intrusion.

I can't believe at the level of "snippy" and rude comments that have been
placed on this list recently by so many people! I don't post on here
often, but enough is enough! It's not the least bit interesting and/or
informative to hear (I assume) mature adults bickering like little
children.
Don Rosa has told me himself that many times he doesn't post on this list
because people often take what he says out of context, which I've seen
happen here on many occasions. Once I admit, I even did it myself (the
Scrooge dying thing). Just because Don happens to write and draw Disney
comics doesn't mean that his opinion is any more valid than the rest of
ours. I don't think he thinks his opinion is, and if anyone else feels
that is the case........well, then I suppose it's no one's fault but
their own.
And really, who are we to say to someone if something they post is
entertaining or not? Really, now is that our place? Have we forgotten
that this is meant as a gathering place for people of common interests?
In closing I feel almost as ridiculous and childish as those who make big
deals out of these things for even acknowledging that they posted these

post. My mind is made up, and that's pretty much the end of it as far as
