Ouffff... Lucas & Spielberg dont fear "use" a lot of things from another
authors turning this elements in profitable merchandising stuff. Deflectors
from Star Trek, Banths from E.R.Burroughs...
All the traps from the Indiana Jones movies are from Scrooge or Donald
stories, the three if I remember (help anybody?)...

In the other hand, I enjoy when Don Rosa insert something of his passion for
the movies. I loved these touch the Citizen Kane everywhere...

FABIO (I dont like Tolkien... so?)

Wow. Is it just me, or did this statement make all of you other native
English speakers a little envious? :)

You can find new Disney comics (weekly, pocket books, special series)
everywhere.

Hey! This new 50th anniversary story for Gyro Gearloose I was saying that I
completed a few weeks ago... there's something else I need to announce about
it that I almost forgot!

The idea of combining the sequel to "Christmas for Shacktown" (for which
Norway had been asking for 12 years) along with the 50th anniversary Gyro
story (which Norway requested over 10 years later) was first suggested to me
in 1999 by Sigvald Gr?sfjeld jr.! And he suggested other elements of the
plot which I won't discuss as it would spoil the story. So I must publicly
thank Sigvald for that idea, and I offer him 50% of all the worldwide
royalties that I will earn off of that story. No, let's make it 100%. No,
let's make it 100% of all the royalties I earn off of ALL of my stories. (It
all equals the same amount, so I can be generous!)
Thanks Sigvald!

Only a question...

Do you mean that your Gyro's story is also a Xmas story (and it deserves to
be published in December)?

Thanks,

Luka

I know that at least SOME of the Indiana Jones-traps are "stolen" from
Barks - but all of them? I haven't heard about THAT.
What I read, once upon a time... was that a trap with at sone and an inka
bridge (???) was borrowed from a Barks story.

Looks nice, but I just _have_ to point out that "civil engineer" doesn't
translate to "siviili insin??ri" :-)
A civil engineer (AFAIK) is a term for someone who's studied
"rakennustekniikka" at an institute of technology. A more proper
translation could therefore be "rakennusinsin??ri" - or even "rakennusalan
diplomi-insin??ri", if you want - if I remember correctly that Don's
education is from the academic level :)

Hi,

Here is a summary of the 4 main Di$ney publication in french:

* Picsou magazine: every month, A4 format, 200 pages, Reprint of mainly
Barks, Don Rosa stories. Very few new stories. Some articles about
non-Di$ney work like movies, ... .Also lots of advertissing (27 pages in
December...)

* Super Picsou Geant: every 2 month, A4 format, 300 pages, publish mainly
new D-coded stories, 1-2 new H-story or I-story, reprint 1-2 old stories,
Couac

* Mickey Parade: NEW VERSION every 2 month, 22.5cm x 14.5 cm format (very
strange as the top of the page is generally not used...), 300 pages, publish
mainly new I-coded stories, 1 Michel Souris story (only know in France, I
think), 1-2 D-story and reprint 1-2 old stories.

* Journal de Mickey: every week, A4 format, nearly 50 pages, 2-3 stories,
here the main F-coded stories are published. Lots of articles about
non-Di$ney work.

I agree with all this, the other stories that where re-printed (mainly
Barks) have been published in France 10-20 ago.

Two examples:
- They said that Don Rosa was inspired by the Strobl story (WUS 50) to
reconstitute the drawing of the scene when $crooge gets his first dime WITH
NO indications about Carl Barks facts.
- In Picsou 358 (where "Beagle vs Money Bin" is printed), they said that,
in the "Don Rosa world", there are only 6 (six) Beagles Boys. But if we read
the story, we saw at least 7 beagles boys (176-xxx, and 2 176-716 -Don Rosa
bug-). They don't read the story that they publish!!!

If I remember well, as the redactor changed, Don Rosa have lost the contact
with the Picsou Magazine team, so no more pin-up drawing and great articles.
I think that the quality of Picsou is now very low, is it worth buying only
if there is a new unpublished story.

Picsou G?ant.

The latest Mickey Parade was great!

I used to be in contact with some of them. Pascal Pierrey is the editor of
Picsou and the Journal de Mickey, and Jean-Luc Cochet is responsible for the
new story produced in France. If you have questions, I think they are two
persons you can contact.

I don't find that much have changed in the latest months. The pin-ups
disapeared, there were two good issues recently, one with unpublished
stories (the 7 dwarfs by Scarpa, and early USA comics), for Disney's
birthday, and a collector issue for Picsou's 30th birthday, with Italian
Almanacco di Topolino stories. I'm not much interested by Rosa and Barks,
but I understand these comics are interesting if you have never read them
before.

I agree that Super Picsou G?ant really is the best available in France. It
only contains comics, and from time to time, very good early Italian comics,
some of them unpublished before!

Thank you for correcting! I really didn't know that. I'll correct it soon.

Does anyone saw any story drawn by artist Carlos Mota already published (beyond Brazil)?

Thanks for any help / info!

Let me say ... maybe ... depends of the mood you are when you read that :-)
Seriously, i recommended Super PicMag because it goes
better and better since 2 or 3 years.
The "new" Mickey Parade is "too new" for me to claim
it's good. (And the previous numbers were very uneven i guess)

Anyway, i'm sure that all those comics should be much more better
with a real wish to do it by the teams of French Disney Publications.
Alas....
Money money money.

It was with great enjoyment that i received my copy of the Disney Galerie from Germany today. Unfortunately i can understand little of the language or i would be able to make more corrections. If scholars keep reproducing errors unfortunately they become accepted as the truth.

I believe the book states that the first old master was MADONNA DUCK and done in 1941. Actually it was BLUE DUCK done in late 1939. The text says there where 16 completed by 1945. Actually there are 17 considered to be the old masters and they all can all be seen on the walls of the Disney studio in the feature film...THE RELUCTANT DRAGON (1941). You just need to know where to look.

Several others of lesser fame are known to exist by this writer. ANY information, especially photographic copies would be appreciated.

Best wishes to DCML readers

Dennis

Several others were done, some of which this writer has knowlege.
