I just thought of something...
James Silvani said on his blog that he just finished Darkwing Duck #16. Issues #17 and #18 are both solicited in October. Does that mean Silvani has to draw two issues in September, or that Boom will be substituting another artist in? Either way, it sounds like a rush job.
Also, the fact that we haven't seen an online preview yet for DuckTales #4 makes me think it's either not finished, looks terrible, or both. And if #4 is behind schedule, does that mean 5 and 6 are going to be more of the same "copy & paste" art?
You'd think Boom would want to go out with a bang, but it looks more and more like the Gutters was correct...it's the salting of the earth, the poisoning of the well...

Wasn't the preview for #3 sent out in late July? If I'm right, we probably won't see the preview for #4 for at least a week.
EDIT: Yup, http://issuu.com/previews/docs/ducktales_03_rev was published on July 25.

That means that that the preview for #6 is supposed to come out late October. How can that be, when the comic is scheduled for October?

So basically, with the DuckTales/Darkwing Duck cross-over "Dangerous Currency" it breaks down like this:
Dangerous Currency PART 1: Boom's DuckTales #5 is scheduled for September 14, 2011
Dangerous Currency PART 2: Boom's Darkwing Duck #17 is scheduled for October 12, 2011
Dangerous Currency PART 3: Boom's DuckTales #6 is scheduled for October 12, 2011
Dangerous Currency PART 4: Boom's Darkwing Duck #18 is scheduled for October 12, 2011
Looks like (currently) the last 3 parts of the story are going to be released on the same day: October 12, 2011, along with:
The trade paperback of the first arc of Boom's DuckTales #1-#4 DuckTales: Rightful Owners TPB
and
The trade paperback of the current arc of Boom's Darkwing Duck #13-#15 Darkwing Duck Campaign Carnage TPB

Previews of an issue usually come out shortly before that issue is published. If #6 is scheduled to come out in October, then the preview for #6 probably comes out shortly before.

That sounds right, Lars.
Boy, 5 duck books in one week... gotta savor all that web-footed goodness until we see what the next publisher has to offer!

Three books out on the same day, including two consecutive issues of Darkwing Duck? TELL ME that doesn't sound like a rush job. Like I said before, Disney must have given Boom a solid "kill" date that Boom is trying desperately to beat.

Or perhaps BOOM! are worried they'll be given a "kill date" by Disney and want to get the books out before then.
Or perhaps BOOM! simply want to maximize their earnings in fourth quarter.
All we know is what BOOM! publish and when they publish it. Unless we get some insider knowledge, we don't know why they do what they do. We ought to have learned from the time most people wrongly thought Gemstone folded because they lost money.
I'll end with a smiley, just to show I'm not as grumpy as I may sound. :)

This site also lists them as coming out on the same day, but if you look; every one of Boom!'s books are listed as coming out on the same day for September and October. So, I wouldn't put too much faith in those release dates.

From looking at this in previous months, it seems that Boom! only releases an acurate release date the same week as the book comes out. But, who knows, October could be different.

I may be able to shed some light on the mystery of DUCKTALES #4 -- to wit, why we've not seen a preview. In the "Extended List Comics Forecast" on the ComicList web site, http://www.comiclist.com/index.html, I found the following release info:
DUCKTALES #4 release date TBD (to be determined)
DUCKTALES #5 release date 9/14/2011
DUCKTALES #6 release date 10/12/2011
Sooooo... is this some sort of reaction to the panning of DT #3? Or was the quality of DT #4 so EGREGIOUSLY bad that even kaboom! felt ashamed about releasing it?
All I know is that I've never seen anything like this release schedule in my Disney-comics-reading lifetime!

You know what, kimba? We all might have made an impact on this decision!
If Boom!/kaboom! really can't comment on the sloppiness of their DuckTales content, at least the apparent delay of their DuckTales #4 may prove as a passive-aggressive way of addressing the problems with the series.

Wow! Well, does that mean they'll also push the last two books back?
Now... is this a Boom! thing, or did Disney step in? ;)
