Ah, ok, I see what you mean. Thanks! Sorry for the confusion. On page 16, there indeed is a panel with Arpin Lusène, Molay, Azure Blue and some others. Must have overlooked this. So forget my last post, the C cover actually *has* something to do with the story. :D I still doubt, however, that the full four-part story will include all of the characters from the cover. But let's wait and see. ;)

Well, what do you know! DuckTales issue 1 posted pretty impressive direct market sales of 7,208 for the one week in May it was available! I'm very surprised by that as it felt like it had slipped under the radar internet reporting-wise. Darkwing Duck is holding nicely at 5,815 too so maybe there's life left in the Kaboom Disney titles yet! I very much hope the inconsistency in artwork from DT#1 doesn't happen again, but I'm excited about where title might go! Looks like all the classic titles will be wrapped up as of next week's releases though...

I will, I hope, be forgiven for not particularly CARING what happens with DT and Darkwing if the classics are no more.

I'm torn. On the one hand, I am completely bummed about the cancellation of the classics...again. On the other hand, for the most part, I have enjoyed the Disney afternoon titles and hope they survive.

Here's a long preview for issue 2. Castellani is out, it seems, and Jose Massaroli and Magic Eye Studios are in. I'm not sure if they're gonna carry the run from here on out for sure or not.

So NOW the Beagle Boys look more their DuckTales versions?? :) After Pujol drew them more like Barks in the first issue? Is this because of the change of artists? Message to Kaboom: MAKE UP YOUR MIND!!!!!!

Pujol never had anything to do with the final product. He dropped out in advance. Issue one was drawn by Leonel Castellani (first ten pages) and Massaroli & Magic Eye Studio (remaining pages). Your point is still valid, though. It doesn't make much sense to use regular BBs in #1 and then the DuckTales ones in #2.

I did a test for them (but I wasn't choose, of course):

It says Warren Spector is writing; will be interesting to see how well he knows the Darkwing world!

The cover to DT #5 mentioned and linked by ZummiGummi is the first hard evidence I've seen that the DT title will extend beyond four issues. Though if you have seen DT #2 (out this week), the hot & heavy crossover business has already begun in earnest...

Not too well judging from the description. Scrooge considers the world to have gone mad since Launchpad is now the CEO of a major corporation. I know it makes no sense, but it was Scrooge who appointed him CEO in the first place, dammit! I think Spector feels a need to completely change everything he feels should not have been done. Should the DuckTales Status Seeker and Golden Fleecing episodes have been more faithful to Barks in the first place? Absolutely. Should Bubba have been added to the cast? Absolutely not. Should Scrooge have made Launchpad the CEO of one his companies? Certainly seems like a strange and dubious decision to me (my own theory: since it was "too big to fail" in the first place he figured he'd hire his biggest failure to run the company while it just keeps screwing up getting bailed out anyway - maybe wanting to teach the current administration a lesson while ending up with about half the U.S. treasury in bailout money - which, if you incorporate real life into it explains why the current U.S. economy is bad as it is [sorry if I'm getting too political and OT.) Anyway, while I admit I'm lukewarm about continuity in Disney comics - and DuckTales never such great continuity in the first place (i.e. with the movie and the magic lamp episode) I don't think Spector should make such drastic changes to an established universe. IMHO Wolfman in Scrooge's Quest pulled off a successful combination of Barks DuckTales - adding the Golden Nugget Boat and the Spicy Tale into the DuckTales universe while not changing anything that's been established before. I honestly think the best thing for Spector, for Disney and for the fans would be just create a completly new universe from scratch.

Some more information about the crossover that starts in DuckTales #5 can be found on the blog of James Silvani.

Sounds more like Warren Spector is trying to undo the worst parts of Ian Brill's Darkwing Duck stories. I hope he's writing the Darkwing portions too! It looks like Jose Massaroli is staying in the title, though...that's unfortunate. His art does nothing for me.
