In fact, it is the letters "ij" written as a ligature. The Dutch often do that in handwriting. It is the standard way of lettering the Dutch Disney comics.

Y is usually more old-fasioned than ij (or ei), with some exceptions like yoghurt.

Quote from user: FuriennaSorry for going off topic here, but what's the langauge in that Atlantis story? It looks almost like Dutch, but not quite. Maybe it's Afrikaans?
Why does it look "not quite Dutch"? That most certainly IS modern Dutch (Nederlands) language. Afrikaans is an old form of Dutch (based from the 1600s-1700s, which has evolved a bit on its own in South Africa, but remained, basically a more ancient form), combined with a small percentage of loaned vocabulary words from native South African Bantu (mostly Zulu?) and Maylay languages.
A big clue that the comic text is NOT Afrikaans is that Dutch "ik" ("I" in English) appears rather than the equivalent Afrikaans "ek". Another is the use of Dutch indefinite articles "de" and "het", while "die" is the only Afrikaans form. Also, simple present tense verbs are conjugated in Dutch, while not in Afrikaans.
The so-called "Y umlaut" is, (as stated above), simply the i + j dipthong digraph written in cursive style (and is the common comic book convention for printing).

But I had never seen the "y umlaut" before, but only the ligature "ij". That's why I was confused. But I now know, that it really is Dutch.

Yeah...It's Dutch. Afrikaans is spoke in South Africa and I dunno if there's ANY Disney Comics out there.
But back on subject...when Al Taliaferro did newspaper comic strips, some had Donald Duck without clothes...in an entire comic strip!

Back to Al Taliaferro...
He even had Donald just shown nude in only one panel in a comic!...

I just wish there was a list of how many comics/stories where Donald Duck was seen without his signature shirt...Like...where did this story come from? It looks like Donald Duck could advertise for Memorex or Something!...

Yes, there are Disney Comics in South Africa. Our Dutch Weekly is sold there (as well as our other magazines). Readers of Afrikaans can read standard Dutch language well enough to understand the comics' stories completely.

Sanoma Uitgevers' magazines are sold in Flemish Belgium, Surinaam, South Africa, and The Netherlands Antilles. I used to buy used Dutch Weeklies and special books in Antwerpen, Belgium, while visiting family there.

Thanks for the feedback.
I also wonder if there's Polish Duck Comics, German Duck Comics, Italian Dutch Comics, and the like at any Euro-American Stores? Because there's a place near my Church that's a German Store, but they don't have Disney Duck Comics.
I wonder if I should ask a request?

Quote from user: MrClevelandPS-Has Gladstone Gander ever bared it all...or was he just TOO lucky to lose his shirt?
I should have remembered this a long time ago, but yes, I believe there's at least one story out there, where Gladstone becomes naked, along with Donald and Scrooge. I have no idea where his luck was at that moment.

PS-All I can say now is talking about Donald's Nakedness is less controversial than other subjects I've mentioned on other sites!

Here's the comic where Scrooge, Donald and Gladstone are robbed and left out in the desert, without any clothes:
