After a long time, the Italian Inducks portal (

from Disney comic books from all over the world! There are
links for you to reach almost all the web sites where Disney
cover images are stored.
Please note that the cover images aren't part of the Inducks

There is also a new fun (I hope) pool, about the character(s)

a book ( the present tense in the excerpt refers to a time around 1980)
:
[ The caricature artist Al Hirtchfeld for three decades "
hides " the name of his daughter Nina in his sketches . USA's airforce
uses the " search for Nina " as an exercise during the training of
bomber pilots , to help them locate targets faster , and recently NASA
as an observation exercise on astronaut training . In addition , a
Pentagon advisor worked on Hirtchfeld's sketches searching for " Nina
" as part of his doctoral thesis on camouflage , which he did
with a scolarship of $60.000 ]
Now , I must admit that I don't know this artist , even though most
of you probably do, but I suppose he is the first one to have this
idea that is nowadays so popular among the fans of Don Rosa (seeking
the D.U.C.K. dedication) and/or Marco Rota ( who also frequently hides
his name on his drawings) or maybe others .
I guess that this is another motivation for all us D.U.C.K.hunters
worldwide to keep searching no matter how crafty the disguise of the
dedication ! Who knows , it could leed one day to a promising career in
NASA or whatever ! And that's another example of the infinite uses of

most consistent among his creations...

I must say that another "new father" of Sgrizzo is Enrico Faccini, a very
clever artist and story man, in the best Disney's spirit (in my honest

Maybe Atomino is known ONLY in France, in Germany (thru old "Der Lustige
Taschenbucher" books) and (a little bit) in Greece. This maybe is one of the
possible explanations. I'm sure he needs a revival. In the next "Maestri
Disney", dedicated to Massimo De Vita, there is an article describing ala
the Atomino's appearances. The article introduces the reprint of a
not-so-well-known story by the interesting Scarpa's character.
Now, my next proposal is another: to organize a poll about ALL the main
Italian characters, including Paperinik, Indiana Pipps (Arizona Goof) and
some of the other most popular Italian characters. This poll should include
the same Scarpa's characters as well...
What do you think about this issue?

likenesses of celebrities have graced the covers of THE NEW YORKER, TV
GUIDE, and many other magazines. He is most closely associated with his
carticatures of Broadway stars and other denizens of New York City. That is
probably why his style was chosen as the basis for the RHAPSODY IN BLUE
segment in FANTASIA 2000 (my favorite part of the film).
There have been classic painters who have also hid their name or the names
of others in their works, but Hirschfield is likely the greatest progenitor
of the practice. My first familiarity with the "game" of hunting for a
hidden name was in the daily editorial cartoons in our Louisville newspaper,
THE COURIER-JOURNAL. The local cartoonist, Hugh Haynie, was one of the very
best, even winning a Pulitzer Prize for his work. He was my inspiration for
learning to draw, even more than the Disney Comics. That's probably why I
was better at one shot gags than at detailed stories. I leave that to Don
and so many other capable spellbinders.

I am looking for a very specific story or story segment, this may be
hopeless. the story line concerned the Little Bad Wolf telling the Big Bad
Wolf that he needed to make up with a hound dog, apparently an Irish hound
dog. The Big Bad Wolf took a bouquet of shamrocks, as I recall, to the

I am looking for a very specific story or story segment, this may be
hopeless. the story line concerned the Little Bad Wolf telling the Big Bad
Wolf that he needed to make up with a hound dog, apparently an Irish hound
dog. The Big Bad Wolf took a bouquet of shamrocks, as I recall, to the
hound and the hound beat him to a pulp. The hound commented that he was

Al Hirschfeld is the greatest caricaturist of the 20th century in the USA. He is 98 years old,lives in N.York and he draws uninterruptedly every Sunday from 1929 in the New York Times, in the ART section caricatures from the world of Broadway,Opera and Music from. He started hidding the name of his daugther Nina during the decade of 40's.
Here in Greece is totally unknown.
His works are in many museums in the USA and the lithos are very expensive.Someone can find them in the Margot Feiden Galleries in NY.
He became known to the Disney fans from his contribution to the film "Fantasia 2000". The part with the Gershwin's" Rapsody in Blue" theme was drawn by his coworkers. It is easy for someone to identify his style.
The U.S. Postal Service recognised his art and issued two series with the Comedians(1991) and Silent screen legends(1994) with his caricatures.
I am very curious to see the Carl Barks caricature by him.(Dr Gerry,I need your help).
I was lucky to meet him in NY twice once in 1986 and last in December of 1998.
