You are misunderstanding I am talking about
the series "En kvart ?rgang" *NOT* the other

The series "En kvart ?rgang" includes DD&Co
from 2000 and 2001, I am waiting to see the
first quarter of the 2002 volume.

Hi all!
First I wish to make it clear that it was *just*
in the "Biography" I used the wrong title
"Luck of the North" in stead of "North of the
Yukon". In the "First appearence" box I made
*NO* mistace at all!!! In a previous tread people
could be lead to think I had said that Soapy
Slick did appear for the first time in "Luck of
the North", but i NEVER did!
While checking my page about this matter I
discovered that I couldn't go to Per Starback's
Carl Bark index at:

I hope this just is a short lasting problem.
If the pages has been moved it would mean a
lot of work for me.

Hi all!
I have one question (this thing always puzzled me):
Which of DuckTales episodes were based upon a Barks stories? I haven't read
any of this story simple because none of them were published in Poland :-(.
We, Poles, know almost only Barks' ten- and onepagers. I remember only one
Barks' long story which was published in my country. It was "Maharajah
Donald" :-) from special Donald's 60th birthday comic. Oh, BTW: In how many
DuckTales episodes Barks was credited? I found his name on my video tapes
only in "Back to the Klondike" and "The Land of Trala-la".

Well, every time I post a message, it's SO uninteresting that I get few
if any responses. And I know I've posted this one before, but I'd still be
interested in the answer.
When I bought the Carl Barks library, I was unable to get a copy of
Volume 5. My comic shop couldn't get one, my bookstore couldn't get one, I
couldn't get one. So I wondered if there was any reason that there would be a
shortage of that particular volume. It seemed odd to me that a company would
publish fewer copies of one volume in a set, but I finally let it go,
figuring it was just a fluke and I missed out.
But now I checked the ebay auction mentioned here, and volume five has
(so far) received over twice as many bids as other volumes for three times as
much money. So I am obviously not the only person who was unable to find
volume five.
Does anyone know why this volume is rare? I hate to think that the
publisher would print fewer copies (I'm reminded of a certain rare quarter in
U$....) for any reason. I'd appreciate hearing about it if anyone knows the
answer.

I would like to add, or at least reiterate, that these comics are not
free to the retailers. They pay a relative pittance compared to regular
comics, sure, but comics retailers are generally not swimming in cash,
and each retailer who participates will have to believe in the value of
this event, and the investment made in the "freebies".

For Finland the answer is still yes, the series has
been published here for decades. Currently the first
issue known by Inducks has Aku Ankkas from the second
quarter of 1970.

However, as a matter of fact #5 and #10 were tha last sets published in
the CBL, shortly before the Disney license expired. So, I wouldn't be
surprised if there are fewer of these volumes around, while some of the
earlier sets even had a second print run, I believe.

Maybe I?m hallucinating, but remember reading somewhere that Gemstone
now has rights to reprint CBL-books. This might make it possible to
complete your set sooner or later.
I didn't find such a statement from Gemstone's website when I quickly
looked, though. Maybe Gary Leach can confirm or deny this.

Hello.
As far as I know, the first set of Carl Barks Library - vol. VIII - was printed in 8000 copies.
This sold slower than expected, thus the next set was printed in either 4000 or 6000 and the one after there in 4000.
After a while they went down to only 3000 copies.
Some of the sets were reprinted with 1000 extra copies as they sold out, but only a few.
Some of the sets had more unreprinted or even unprinted material than others, thus I think a lot of collectors just bought set VI and didn't care for the rest.
Consequently set VI might be the rarest of the sets if it wasn't reprinted. I don't think it was. Sets V and X might also exist with the same low print run and should be more attractive than the rest. Sets I, III, VIII and IX should be the most usual to find.
