I'm happy to see this! First Carl Barks, then Floyd Gottfredson and now Don Rosa! It's a good time to be a fan of these artists!

Any rough idea about the number of projected book totals?
Totally agree on SDL . Would love to see her colour scheme at Don's art.

Is that YOU, Arie? If so, good to see you back.

If I have like 3/4 or more of his stories should I still get these?

Questions to consider:
Do you care about having *all* of his stories?
Will the accompanying commentary and extra art add value for you? (We'll know more about what this will include in time.)
Would you like to have all his stories together in one place, rather than having them scattered through issues with other stuff?
Does the greater durability of hardcover books matter to you?
Is the presentation in the books more attractive to you than what you have? (You may not be able to tell this until the first book comes out and you can page through it yourself. Attractiveness is dependent on paper and printing quality, page size, *coloring*, etc.)
And: how big of a financial hit does this represent in terms of your own comics/books/entertainment budget?
If you buy the library and don't feel you then need to keep the copies you have of Rosa's stories, you can of course offset part of the cost by selling the ones you have. Alternatively, you can pass on the copies you have to some deserving child and produce another American Rosa fan who will only truly feel understood on trips to Finland.

One more reason to buy the library would be to give Rosa a financial thank-you for all the joy he's given us, if indeed he's going to make money off this, in spite of the policies of the Corporate Mouse. Jano, will Don make money off this?

Same here. I have 75% of his stories. But I will buy the collection. It's always nice to have all stories in one format and I will value the additional art and essays.
It's a little bit the same like with the Carl Barks collection. I even have many stories 3 or 4 times, but it's still nice to have all stories in one format, with one coloring.

As with all Disney comics products, no royalties are allowed to be paid for the use of the any comic material. Don usually gets recompensed for the use of his texts and other stuff, though, as was the case with the Egmont editions.

I think it's pretty cool that Fantagraphics is going to make a Don Rosa collection in addition to their Carl Barks and Floyd Gottfredson collections. Don Rosa is my favorite Disney Comics Artist.

This is great news, Jano!
Will it include the extra recap pages made for "Return to Xanadu" and for the long stories after 2002, and the extra half pages made for the multi-part versions of many of Don Rosas long stories between 1993 and 2002?
Se AC Sibebæk's "The Two Worlds of Don Rosa" pages:

As for the moment, I can't say anything definite about the contents since I'm not (yet?) involved with the production. I'll make sure, though, that Don suggets those pages to be used.

Thanks for the detailed response!
1. To an extent. I would definitely like to own all of his "greats". If I don't have a couple of tenpagers I wouldn't be unduly worried.
2. It would add value but not incredible amounts
3. I don't care *too* much about that, but it would still be nice
4. Durability is fine, I take care of my comics, so none are wearing out anytime soon.
5. Yeah, too early to decide there.
Financially- Hmm. If I buy them cheaper on Amazon one by one as they come out, it wouldn't be a huge problem in terms of my budget. Paying for them all full price at once- definitely not doing that.
I think I may just wait until I can check out a copy at my local comic book store and see how I like it overall.
