It was at a panel at SpringCon that I attended a couple years ago. He certainly made it more colorful (he mentioned that the 'real' nephews couldn't live with Scrooge because Scrooge would kill them, and that there's nothing cuddly about Scrooge, among other things), but I don't think I'm misquoting him. His personal feelings about the show didn't seem to affect his belief regarding the quality of the program.

Of course, he also had a sign up at his booth indicating that he would sign absolutely nothing related to DuckTales, so there's that too.

DuckTales didn't adapt The Life and Times, but it was written after DuckTales stopped production so they couldn't have.

As a heads up, Volume 1 of the Don Rosa Library from Fantagraphics should have a story called "Last Sled to Dawson." It contains a long flashback to Scrooge's youth, and is essentially a precursor to the idea of The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck. Think of it as a kind of teaser/prologue, and a good story in its own right. It's also, if I'm not mistaken, Holopainen's first Don Rosa story, and what made him a fan of Mr. Rosa's in the first place.

If you like older comics, and want to get some background on what inspired Don Rosa to create Duck stories of his own, I highly recommend Fantagraphics' "Only a Poor Old Man" and "Lost in the Andes", two books with stories by the creator of Uncle Scrooge (Carl Barks). "Only a Poor Old Man" in particular has stories that were in DuckTales, as well as some very big connections to The Life and Times. And again, the stories themselves are just great.

Thanks for the reply... I will check out this collection regardless I think. I'm gonna sit on my bum and wait till Life and Times comes out in this collection unless I can find a copy 100 bucks or under. Which is still ridiculous for a book that was only in print 4 years ago but a lot better than what people are asking for them right now.

I missed it, but then I found both copies in perfect condition on ebay for $15. They were also both signed by Don Rosa. :D

I've been notified by Amazon that my boxed set of vols. 1 & 2 will come out in mid-December...so with luck, in time for Christmas!

Christmas would be a great release date.

I'm glad they included those covers at the end. I've seen most of those before...does it tell where the D.U.C.K. dedication is hidden in the covers? I could never find it in most of them.
