I'd rather have ALL the Mickey Mouse Sunday pages through at least 1950, as the other pencilers and inkers (Manny Gonzales, Bill Wright, etc.) drew pretty well, and Gottfredson had some part in those, as he was the chief editor of The Studio Comics Division.

In comic shops/bookstores, that's about 180 bucks, so that's quite a lot and I understand the concern. Even with my discount card at my local comic store it comes out to 160. That's still enough to give a little pause. It's cheaper on Amazon, of course, but it's not exactly fair to say that an online store is the default price for every shopper.
I'm glad the Sunday strips are being released like this, I've been curious about it for awhile. The slipcase is good news too. I'm still kind of frustrated that they don't sell the slipcase separately, since I bought my first two volumes locally without knowing.
I just hope the last volume of the 'main' strip (which will be released in something like 2019, jeez) is some sort of robust bonus appendix type of book so we get an even number and another slipcase, since I recall just 13 volumes being the number available for the main strip. Pure bonus features ahoy?

13 volumes would take us up to the end of 1955 and the end of the daily strip continuities. They could always do a volume 14 with the (gag-a-day) strips from 1956-57.

Book 14 could feature a "best of" from the years 1956 - 1975.
Most of the gags from that run are not that great,
but if you hand pick the best from every year it would be one great book!
And when it comes to bonus material I'm sure there are nice Gottfredson stuff out there.

Hear, hear! "Best of" collections are frustrating. I always seek collected editions of complete runs (whether or not they actually get through said complete run...) I'm reminded of Yoe! Books' Krazy and Ignatz: Tiger Tea book. But I'll just leave that subject at a "No comment."

The Mickey Mouse in Color version would be one of my "desert island" must-haves. We don't need it, of course, as we already have it ... but anyone who ends up reading it for the first time courtesy of Fantagraphics (provided the series makes it to that point) certainly do! :)
