As I posted on the DCML, while "The Great Orphanage Robbery" was cut some weeks ago, D23 is currently publishing "Mickey Mouse Sails to Treasure Island" without any cuts, cannibals and all-- and without even a single word of introduction (or "warning"!).
Whether the decision has been made for the books or this is a test before making it, it is a very interesting development.

Fantagraphics changed the cover art (I liked the old one more) and offers sample pages and more details (the book will have 80 pages supplementary features :)) in a PDF file: http://www.fantagraphics.com/mickey1

There were significant delays in acquiring and cleaning up the best available materials on the 1930-1931 dailies.
That said??thanks to several private collectors, I hope and believe we've come up with something of unprecedented quality. And the book is with the printers now: I think we've seen our last delay.
Fingers crossed (and it's so damn hard to cross them with these big white gloves on, too...!)

Amazon is now listing Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse: "Trapped on Treasure Island" (Vol. 2). It is supposed to be available on October 18th, 2011. It retails for $29.99 and has 312 pages. As of yet there is not a picture of this volume.
Of perhaps even greater interest, Amazon also lists Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse Collector's Box Set (Vol. 1-2). It is scheduled to be published on October 4, 2011 and retail for only $49.99. So it looks like Fantagraphics will be selling the Gottfredson Library in Box Sets like they do with the Peanuts Library.
I have already ordered Volume 1, but will happily order a copy of the first Box Set and give my Volume 1 to someone as a gift.

This is great news about the Gottfredson Library--however, I am curious about one thing. Rampaith, if you're involved in the compilation of the library, can you tell us if the strips are being reprinted in unexpurgated form with Leonard Maltin-ish introductions or something? I certainly hope nothing is being changed (and if this question is too much like prying into official matters, feel free to leave it unanswered).

I'll let my boss, Editor-In-Chief Gary Groth, give us the final word here.

This boxed set is actually sort of frustrating to me, because I want to grab volume one as soon as it comes out, but the collector in me very, very badly wants to wait for the set. Grrrr-baaah.
