What does "aber" mean as a prefix to zombies in "aberzombies"? I could have understood the intent of ueberzombies (zombies very good at their job of zombiness), or "oberzombies" (zombie waiters). To me "aber" is babbling that people do when they are confused, or uncertain about what to say, aber......, aber......., aber...... (but...., but....., but......
Were these stuttering zombies???

Pretty certain there will be seven daily-boxes; Fantagraphics didn`t have enough material for two Sunday-books, but they made two nonetheless.

I'm sure someone's already theorized a 'Best of' volume covering the rest of Gottfredson's run of gag-a-day strips?

Fanta usually goes for complete sets, not compilations, but there's a recent precedent: after releasing all of Roy Crane's Captain Easy/Wash Tubbs Sunday strips (in four volumes) they're releasing a companion book comprised of the 'Best of' the storylines from the daily strip.
That works well, because the WashTubbs dailies were already published in their entirity, anyway, by Flying Buttress. So, just publishing the highlights in an abbreviated publication is no problem. But Wash Tubbs' dailies were mostly ongoing long epic stories. So that situation is not at all analogous to Mickey Mouse's post 1955 gag-a-day strips.

Nice to see the later Gottfredson work coming up. His 1940's artwork is really lively. It may be off-topic, but I'd still like to see a collection of Paul Murry's Mickey Mouse comics as well.

YES! The same here.

I just got boxset with books 5 and 6 today, its my first mickey books and I m absolutely thrilled. The packaging is amazing, the strips, the shading, what this man did with black and white comic is incredible, never saw anything similar.
Since these books have 4 more panels per page then classic comic books, 2 of these books equal 3 barks books, so what I m saying is these 16 books will have same amount of material as 24 barks books, thats a lot to read which is great.
I do have one question though; the gag a day era, post 1955, is there some site where I could see some of those strips?
Are they like peanuts strips where you have one theme that spans through dozen strips so its like reading a short story or are they completely self contained one shots? Thank you
