Quote from user: skritterJust ordered my box set. Come on October.

How long do you think they will have between box sets? Anyone know the release schedule they did with Charlie brown?

Hey Skritter -- the slipcase editions will be released every holiday season, containing the two frontlist titles from the preceding year.
Fernando Ventura
I ordered the slipcase editon on Amazon. Can't believe I'll have to wait many months to read both books! :(

Since I only ordered the first book, which is already out, I've already got it. I just got it today, and from what I've read so far, it's great. I don't have the English vocabulary to tell just how great. My hat is off to the people who have the patience to wait until October for the first book. You shouldn't! But well, everybody his own choice I guess.

Before I had the book, I hadn't read much Gottfredson yet and didn't really know how good he was. This book shows exactly how good he was. And it's only volume 1 of... how many exactly? I did some calculations, but I don't know if I'm right. I thought of this.
Gottfredson's career was from 1930 to 1975, 46 years. In the first book, two complete years have been published (1930-1931).
If that's so for every book, there should be 23 books coming out. (the Peanuts series have also been ordered by complete year, so that's probable)
Since two books appear every year, it would take 11.5 years. That means the last volume will be published in late 2022. That's 4 years before they end with Barks.
Can anyone confirm this?
GeoX
Well, Gottfredson only actually did serials through 1955--after that, it's strictly gag-a-day stuff, which I doubt Fantagraphics will be reprinting. It would certainly be a hard sell. So most likely 13 volumes, plus probably another few covering his Sunday stories from the thirties. Seven or eight years, it should take.

I definitely hope they will also publish the gag-a-day stuff.
That´s the stuff which is so hard to find and which is good too.
They also published it in the italian edition "gli anni d´oro topolino".

Are the Sunday strips going to be seperate volumes?
GeoX
I recall reading an interview from a while back where it was claimed that they'd probably do the Sunday comics after they finish the regular stories. I certainly wouldn't expect them to appear in the same volumes as the dailies.

Has anyone in America actually got a copy of this yet via Amazon's regular shipping? I know GeoX got one via Amazon Prime, and I see Dutch Duckfan has his too, but mine has now failed to arrive on the June 7th estimated arrival date. Amazon, contacted, seems not to know what's going on. I'm wondering if this is a problem with my local mail service or some greater issue with the book itself.

Volume 1 actually arrived at my shop this week. So it appears Diamond was on a one-week delay in releasing it (it was solicited for 6/1 as noted above but release on 6/1 was "not confirmed").

For me in Germany amazon announced the delivery date
as 14 or 15 of June 2011.
I´m really excited!
