The next Barks issue has been delayed? It's still scheduled for June on their website and Amazon.

Originally, I was told by Amazon that my delivery date was to be May 10-17. It is now late June, but subject to change again. Fantagraphics is so far behind on the Pogo Comic books set, that there is no scheduled delivery date. Originally, my stated delivery date was November 17-24, 2013. It was rescheduled to December, then January. Now there is NO estimated date range. Don't forget that Kim Thompson's death sets them back quite a bit. I don't believe they hired someone to handle the responsibilities and work he would have done. They must handle it with people they already had on staff. So, things will take longer. Probably most of their deliveries will be affected in one way or another. We were warned of this situation by the surviving partner.

As I understand it, they were able to reach the funds necessary to hire a new translator, at the least. But kickstarters eat up a lot of time, as does restructuring the way a business works. I'm not surprised that they are behind.
Most kickstarter projects, and that is currently what Fantagraphics is doing at this moment, are late due to the amount of work involved in dealing with backers and such. I would rather they delay than, for example, get a book with inferior binding to meet a deadline I didn't need anyway.
The books will come, and the comics will not decay in quality. At least, that's my belief.

I agree! I'm willing to wait a little bit longer it get the known great quality.
I know only of one delay by Fantagraphics. I pre-ordered Ten Thousand Years In Hell (Gil Jordan). This has been delayed from last year May to this year September. But I understood that Kim Thompson was the translater.

This shows Floyd Gottfredson Mickey Mouse Dailies Volume 6 "The Land of Long Ago", and Volume 5 "Mickey Mouse Outwits The Phantom Blot" is already available. But, I want to buy them as a boxed set. Usually the boxed set becomes available for order when the 2nd volume becomes available. Why is the box set not yet available for pre-order?

Thanks! I just ordered it. In October I'll have 4 Mickey boxes with 8 volumes, finally into Gottfredson's classical period. I can't wait to have them cover to at least 1952 (but, really to 1955). I'd just like to have a decent portion of the Barks and Gottfredson collections by the time I'm 70 years old (which is only a few years away).

As I understand it, they're going to go until the end of the adventure strip run in 1955. That tracks with what David Gerstein said originally, that there were enough for 13 volumes in the dailies (and with the Sundays, that's 15 total, lucky us). I'm assuming that they'll stay the course, with each daily volume covering two years.
Poor volume 13. Stuck all alone, without a box to call your own. Perhaps we can ask for Floyd Norman's Mickeys reprinted as an appendix to go along with it so there's a proper box... I've had a heck of a time trying to find the strips even for my own personal reading! I am talking calls across the country trying to find out who ran the strips during his tenure.

Don't quote me on this, but I think there is a good chance that will be a fourteenth album covering the very beginnings of the non-serialized material. It would be interesting to see what said material is like, there's probably sufficient interest to support it (though probably not more than one), and--I think most convincingly--it would be really, really hard for many people (like me and probably everyone else here) to resist the symmetry of having everything nicely cased-up.

Makes sense. Not really what I'm hoping for, but... ah well. I'm likely to buy the box set, if only to save a bit and keep things neat on the shelf.
The 40-ish stories from Floyd Norman are absolutely something I'd like to see come out some day though, especially if we can get that last one finished as a special bonus feature...

I guess, except it would look kind of ugly and asymmetrical.
