Re: the KOMIX #155 article , I must say that I have
never heard of such an expression as " limited
comtinuity " - I think what was I assume was Don's
meaning got across , however , that he liked
characters having continuity/a " universe " , but not
to the ( arguably ) extremes that Marvel and DC of
later years have done .
I'm a typically language-limited American ( With ,
perhaps , more of an excuse than most - The formal
education I was allowed/able to get didn't amount to
much ! ) , so , I certainly can't translate things -

Oh we are every bit as wild! You have no idea the things that go on
here! :-) No, seriously Anders, while there *are* people that live up to
the Kentucky stereotype, my next door neighbors for example, the vast
majority of Kentuckians act like most other US residents. I'm 22 and
have never been married and have no children, which like most of the
world, isn't unusual at all.

I was wondering what it is that you don't like about Van Horn's art. His
early material tended to be a little sloppy, but his later stuff I think
looks wonderful. His art has always created lots of controversy, but I
love it, and have been bugging Luca to print more of his stuff in ZP,
since I regularly get all of the issues. So, perhaps I may be partially
to blame on the increase in Van Horn material.

I also need to reread the Three Caballeros again. I've been reading some
Pogo lately, and I've grown to have a new appreciation for Kelly's art.

Can any one tell me (and the rest of DCML) the exact date and time of the
Barks tribute at this year's San Diego Comic Con?
Perhaps one of the panelists, Mark Evanier, Russ Cochran, Don Rosa, Russell
Myers or R.C. Harvey would know.

Since I - too - am not very big fun of Van Horn's drawings, I can give you
one reason: eyes. Especially HDL's eyes seem awfully misplaced and clumsy.
However, the stories are good.

And there were some unmemorable promotional appearances in the Dell comics (even though one was by Walt Kelly, which I would not say was "inspired".... it seemed a bit "uncomfortable"). But these newspaper comics and such were long gone by the time I was even born, and they were never reprinted for me to see later.

I have seen lots of those old newspapercomics with Jose and Panchito in the older Dutch weekly's, just about 1980 - 1984. There especially was a very long follow-up-story with Jose Carioca, which I always will remember as one of the best Disney-comics I have ever read. It is very funny; he get's more tangled up in his lies every story. I also believe this was the base for the later Dutch-Jose-stories. I and a lot other Dutch readers I've heard of really love the caracter in these storys and the later Dutch one's, although in my opinion they never can stand up to these news-paper-comics.

Martinez is a Dutch creation, right Dutch members?

Senor Martinez is not a Duthc creation, he already was in the old American newspaper-comics, which were reprinted from time to time in the Dutch weekly's (in 1980 every week on the backside for half a year). The Dutch writers went on with this, I believe, just like with Jose's caracter.

I was a bit surprised about the horse but I didn't notice Jose's change of caracter in: "The three Caballero's ride again". I really liked the story, the horse-change didn't bother me and I found it great to see them meeting again and their friendship was touching, Don Rosa always puts in another volume of dept (and lots of funny and exciting situations).

Them meeting again, by the way, also happened in an old American story, but I like to forget this, I didn't really like that story. It was in an old Dutch weekly from 1980, Harry probably knows it better than me.
