And how would the software behind the checkbox know which items are Disney
and which are non-Disney, if that isn't indicated anywhere?

Excluding items with codes with a "Q" would also exclude other more
important items, such as articles on Disney comics. There is currently no
way to exclude non-Disney comics ONLY. The items with story codes beginning
with a Q are NOT non-Inducks items.

1. The Littlest Chicken Thief (WDC 219). A much-similar story like the wild
colt one, except it's a young coyote instead of a colt.
2. The Hypno Gun (WDC 145). If im not mistaken this is the story of the
"Bing! You're hypnotized" gun.
I cant remember the exact titles of the fllowing stories.
3. The Swamp of No Return.
4. Back to Long Ago.
5. treasures of Ali baba story. The ducks travel across the desert and
stumbled upon a group of "performers".
6. The lost peg-leg mine. Scrooge has himself hypnotized and remembered
about a lost mine he used to has.
I think that's about what i can vaguely remember.

Until about 4 days ago, I didn't know anything about any pre-ordering through Previews for the comics. Since I've had no desire to buy any comics in four and a half years, I didn't know that was an option.
I've since contacted a subscription service that will send me a monthly shipment of every Disney/Gemstone title published. They didn't get their issues of WDCS634 either, but he assured me that it must arrive next Wednesday. As near as we can figure, the warehouse (in Columbus?) didn't ship them to any stores.

I am still pursuing my research for the series of article about Donald
publications throughout the world that will be published in a few months in
Picsou.
I now have good information (thanks to many of you) about :
France
Argentina
Brazil
Spain
Italy
Finland
Scandinavia
I am still missing some key countries though, especially Germany, the UK and
the Netherlands.
Would any of you have the possibility to send me, for any one of those three
countries, information about at least two Donald Duck books or comic books
published there before 1950 as well as high res scans of their covers
(before sending the high res scans contact me to get my other email address)
?
Also : could you remind me when was the first Donald Duck comic book
published in the US ? Does anybody have a scan of its cover ?
Thanks a MILLION in advance.
Didier
PS: As a side note, totally out-topic (serious apologies about this): I have
some signed english limited edition copies of my art book about Disneyland
Paris (www.dlpbook.com) for sale at a reduced price (-25%) for those of you
who might be interested.

Distribution of Gemstone's comics

Hey Sigvald,

>experienced in effective distribution of Disney comics.
Er... no, we're not.
Not Byron or myself, anyway. Byron, the other story editors, and I
all work for Egmont Creative A/S (formerly Egmont Comic Creation), which
functions as a creative studio- and a creative studio ONLY. Egmont Creative
makes new Disney comic stories and puts together compilations of old ones,
but we *don't* actually do any printing or distributing ourselves.
The publishing and distributing is done by Copenhagen's Egmont
Serieforlaget A/S and other, similar publishing companies in other
countries; one publishing company for each Egmont-affiliated country where
Disney comics appear. These publishing companies are owned by Egmont, but
are not the same business entity as Egmont Creative. They are independent of
us.
So don't ask Byron or me to tell you something about how
distribution ought to work. We may not know how our publishers are doing it,
and more importantly, we aren't required to know.
Friends don't let friends use ducks.
Best, David

Distribution of Gemstone's comics

Hi all!
Just a quick delurking in order to comment a much debated topic these days.
I can see that some people are disappointed with the distribution of
Gemstone's comics - no wonder as it seems (from my Scandinavian point of
view) that so far they have done a pretty poor job.
My friendly suggestion is that our friends in Gemstone should learn from our
friends in Egmont (like Byron Erickson or David Gerstein) who are very well
experienced in effective distribution of Disney comics. In the Nordic
countries there are no problems what so ever to find a copy of the weeklies
as they are even sold in every supermarket and in other grocery stores.
OK - back to lurk-modus again!

As a reply to my Barks trivia quiz, Arie Fachrisal listed the
following Barks stories with hypnotism:
1. The Littlest Chicken Thief (WDC 219)
2. The Hypno Gun (WDC 145)
3. The Swamp of No Return (US 57)
4. Back to Long Ago (US 16)
5. Cave of Ali Baba (US 37)
6. The Lost Peg-leg Mine (DD 52)
I asked for at least four Barks stories.
To my surprise, Arie already has six.
Still, there are at least three other stories.
Who knows them? And who knows more?
