Should I have already received my US#322? I have a subscription to both US
and WDCS. I have been receiving both OK. Just the other day I got in the
mail WDCS #637, but US#322 has yet to arrive.
I E-Mail'd Gemstone. They responded immediately and very kindly, but
basically said to contact them again if I had not received it by October 28.
Has everyone else gotten US#322?

Illegitimate? No, the letter mentions a short marriage.

Some time ago, I and a couple of other Norwegians had a discussion on WHEN this
marriage could have found place (that is, IF we still play with the thought of
putting Don Rosa, William Van Horn and everybody else on the same time line).
Three possibilities were mentioned - A) before Fergus married Downy, B) after
Downy's death, or C) in a short period where Fergus and Downy were divorced, in
that case most likely after Scrooge's and Matilda's birth, but before Hortense
were born. We quickly decided to rule out option B, for two reasons - that
would make Rumpus terribly young, and it doesn't seem very likely that Rumpus'
mother would talk of Scrooge as a little vulture if he was thirty years old and
on the other side of the ocean. Also, option A would mean that Rumpus is older
than Scrooge, which I frankly don't really believe in. So... Does anyone here
have thoughts on this matter? :-)

I don't find it too difficult to imagine Rumpus to be Older than Scrooge. Why
would it be unacceptable? Rumpus could be from an earlier marriage of Fergus
McDuck to Vera O'Drake. I'm still not clear how Rumpus got the surname "McFowl"
though.

Still, do we know who Gideon's mother is?

Then, lets not forget Scrooge's *a-hem* "grand-daughter" Dickie Duck. :-)

My vote goes to this one.

That wouldn't make sense, because Scrooge visits Scotland in
"The Billionaire of Dismal Downs," and there is no mention of
Fergus' remarriage. There would be no reason to hide something
like that. And Fergus then dies. (Plus, I imagine Downy's
ghost would have a jealous tiff upon greeting him. ;)

They seemed happy enough to me, but then appearances can be
deceiving. ;)

That's what I assumed after reading "Secrets." He does have a
Rip-van-winkle-style beard...

Easy...his mother remarried after her divorce with Fergus. Her
second husband was named McFowl, so she and her son took that
name. Not that unusual.

Well, it makes me feel better than I'm not alone! My concern was that my
copy may be lost in the mail or something. I've read postings about the
contents of US#322 and COA has had it indexed for a while, so some people
must have gotten it pretty early on. I am too a satisfied customer.

I usually receive Uncle Scrooge two weeks after Walt Disney's Comics and
Stories. I haven't received Uncle Scrooge 322 just yet, but I'm quite
positive it will arrive soon. It should be in my mailbox within the next
week I would imagine as usual. As to why Uncle Scrooge arrives later than
Walt Disney's Comics and Stories, I have no clue. As long as I receive my
own copy in a timely manner, I'm one satisfied Gemstone customer.

If you're thinking of the story "Peril of the Black Forest" it was drawn
by John Carey and, yes, written by Barks.

In Topolino # 2124 from 1996 there is a story where Uncle Scrooge sponsors a
soccer team. It is plotted by a person named Gianluca Vialli, and according
to the INDUCKS database it is the only story he ever made.

Is there a sports fan around who knows if he is identical to the Gianluca
Vialli who used to play for the Italian national soccer team (and some of
the big European clubs)? Or maybe it is just a funny coincidence. I supose
that it is not an uncommon Italian name.
