Don, did you possibly get any ideas of using Pompeii in duck-story? I'd

I hope you are right, Harry. Sigvald has a point though, Gladstone run
into troubles just because they sold so much overseas (at least thats
what I?ve heard).

I don't know about a Cerebus/Donald crossover concept, but I can definitely
see Dave Sim doing a "regular" Disney comic book story. Although "Cerebus"
has been completely drama-driven lately, the book has proven that it can be
light-hearted and intelligent also.

Light-hearted and intelligent stories are what Disney comics are all about,
if you ask me!

Really? I'm a Will Eisner fan, but I just can't see him doing "funny animal"
stories. I'm sure he could do a Disney story, as I think he can work with
pretty much anything, but right now, I can't see him doing anything for
Disney. I mean, look at, say, "The Spirit," or "Heart of the Storm"--Disney
is such a big jump from that.

Eisner's work is always done "diversely," but almost all of his books have a
prominent style that I can't see working with the Disney Ducks.

But you never know!

tradition here, but we didn't seem to have our little
discussion about our friends the viruses and such like,
so I'm seizing the opportunity to inaugurate mine :-)

Well, little Sigvald, equal to himself, nothing gives you the
right to insult me and my country,
you have your opinion, and I have mine, and it seems that I'm
against war, as most of the French
people are, and I haven't respected my president
(who is not-so-perfect, I know, but I think he
is able to both eat a bretzel and stay alive), as much as I
do now that I know he won't help the
USA if the war comes. We all know that if this war happens,
lots of innocents, men, women, old men,
children and babies will die, so I wonder how it's possible
that some people still think this f***ing
war is a good thing. Well, anyway, everyone is free to think

on dcml. Everyone should think the way he wants, and this

Sigvald, what gives you the right to talk about such a
delicate issue on Don Rosa's behalf?! This is very
grave to do this, Sigvald. What makes you think that Don Rosa
is pro war or against war? It's not of our
business, anyway. If Don Rosa wants to talk about this, he is
free to do so, but anyway, he more than probably
didn't even want to discuss on this here, and nobody wanted,
even if this war is probably in everybody's mind
here, because it's not the apropriate place for this.
YOU were the first to speak about this, and to insult me,
and why? Because I asked Don Rosa (not you!) if he would work
with France again. Really, I don't understand
what the hell is the common point between [Don Rosa's
business with Picsou] and [President Chirac and the war in
Irak]. This reflection must come from an ill brain! Did you
really think Don Rosa didn't want to work with Picsou
because of Jacques Chirac (who, by the way, isn't the new
editor of Picsou Magazine) and his involvement in the
war? This is almost racism, Sigvald, and it's grave, do you
think a reader of Picsou Magazine, pro or against war,
has anything to do with what is happening today? And anyway,
if it was the case, if Don Rosa didn't want to work
with Picsou because of these stupid irrelevant reasons, it's
his business and he's free to keep his opinion
secret, or to develop it and for that, he doesn't need
an "useful idiot". So you're not even insulting me and my
country, and all the other thousands of people who are
against a possible war, but also Don Rosa himself (well, I
guess you're more hurt by this argument that any other
argument quoted here) ! ! !

that's the way everybody does, because consequencies can
be important.

Recently I had a comment about Harry's photo-collection that may be seen as
offensive towards Dutch people. My way of arguing was partly a follow-up to
Harry's arguing in a previous private mail. I am very sorry if any of you
Dutch has felt offended about this ? please accept my apology!

This is normally *not* seen as a friendly way of addressing one's friends.
However I'll give you the benefit of the doubt since I have often been
called "Lille Sigvald" by family and friends over the years ? my father
being "Store Sigvald" = "big Sigvald".

here, as I find that off-topic. I however am following US-media these days
so that I know what many Americans think about the French. Please remember
that referring other peoples views is *not* the same as referring your own

Do you? I have just read that Monsieur Chirac has said that France WILL aid
the US-forces *if* that guy in Bagdad uses Weapons of Mass Destruction
against the coalition forces.

I haven't heard anyone say it's a *good* thing. What some say is that it's
the less bad of only bad options. Some Americans have also said that the
French should remember D-Day (June 6th, 1944).

That was *never* my intention ? no way! I was doing analysis, not speaking
on other's behalf. Please remember that Don Rosa does not exist alone in the
Disney system. He thus may or may not, have to consider the opinions of
other Americans within the system, such as the people at Gemstone, Byron
Erickson, etc. As you said yourself ? this is a delicate matter, especially
for Americans.

My most sincere apologies to Don Rosa if he for any reason feels so. It was
*never* my intention to insult anyone here ? I just decided to be very open
minded when thinking up possible reasons for Don Rosa to choose to work for
someone else than Picsou. And please notice that I mentioned the most
important reason first ? and that one has nothing what-so-ever to with any
war at all.

I wish I could, but as you have argued ? in public- that I have offended Don
Rosa I had to comment that in public ? you put me in a sticky situation with
last few lines.

Just a final statement:
I did never mean to insult Monsieur Gilles Maurice or any French by
referring a current observation of US-attitudes. I apologize for any
inconvenience this may have caused for Monsieur Gilles Maurice or any other
French readers of the DCML.
