Hi all - specially to our Greek friends!

While visiting my sister in Porsgrunn (in the
south eastern part of Norway) I also visited a
local second hand store in order to search for
some Norwegian comics for my good Dansih friend
AC Siveb?k. Besides finding two of the magazines
he've asked for I also found a Swedish Kalla Anka
& Co (#20/21 2002 with the second part of "Gyro's
First Invention" and even a Greek Komix magazine
featuring the Barks Classic "Lost in the Andes".
Off course I bought it. I now have that story in
Norwegian, German and Greek, and I have read it
in Swedish and Danish.

So my Greek friends, have any of you ever found
Scandinavian comics in Greece?

You will often find Scandinavian and German comic books in the Mediterranean
tourist areas. My memory is although not completly clear if I saw any in
Greece last time.

You have found KOMIX with "Lost in the Andes"?! Well, I don't know how much
you've paid for it (not much, I gather), but hang on to it real hard: this
is KOMIX #1, and it's impossible to find it here in Greece, unless you're
ready to caugh up a good part of your bank account! If you don't mind
parting with it, I'm sure you can find a willing buyer here in Greece (not
me, I have a copy of #1 already) who will give you enough money for you to
spend a few sunny days in the summer in a Greek island! :-)

In Sweden there are some issues between 1949 and 1967 (at least as far
as I know of) that have a different cover paper than whats usual.
For some issues there seems to be about the same amount of issues with
both types of paper in the cover.
E.g. #2 1949 that exists in one variant with a very thick rough paper
and one with thinner smooth paper. The smooth paper is the common for
most of the other issues at this time.

There also exist issues with only the thick rough paper and no smooth paper.

And some issues are extremely rare with another type of paper.
The most striking one is Walt Disneys serier (compares to the USA one
shots) #7 1953 that exists with three different types of paper in the cover.
They are the same thickness but one is with subdued colours (or dull
maybe is the word, "matt" in Swedish) (common), one is semi-glossy or
semi-dull (rare) and one is glossy (extremely rare).

The newest variant that I know of is #35 1967 that exists in a semi-dull
type.

Now I wonder is it the same in other countries ? That some issues have
different kinds of cover paper. And in that case is some type more rare
than the other one ?

There also are some issues that have very different shades of the
colours on the cover but that probably just is imperfection in the
printing with the colours. However there exist one exeption #46 1972
was printed with a green logo (common) and with a yellow logo (rare).

As a curiosity there exists a copy of the first Swedish Kalle Anka # 1
1948 (compares to USA WDC&S) that totally lacks the blue colour on the
cover. This means that Donalds clothes are rose instead of blue. As far
as I understand it lacks one of the printing colours. How I wish that it
was mine.

I will send you some Indonesian comics with ur stories in it but dont expect
it too soon cause i can only afford the cheaper mail. the postal cost here
has increased a lot lately :-(
I knew that when i traded local comics with Rosa Calendar 2003 with a Dane.
btw i dont know if you still remember it but i asked u about reincarnation
and matey mcduck existence in new laird of castle mcduck. u mentioned that u
took barks story (back to long ago) as not levitating to his past life but
merely a look at his ancestor's life. you mentioned an old movie that
reminds you of such thing, i forgot what and i dont have the emails anymore
since i went formatting my pc a couple of times. it was "mrs. something"???

And here's some good news, you have been recently better known in a small
indonesian disney fans community and will be even widely known because the
local publisher has promised to do an "All-Rosa-stories" specia book due to
high demand. and demands are high that they print an Indonesian version of
Life and Times. The special book is scheduled to be printed in April. I'll
keep you posted if you want. I know many of fellow DCMLers will want to
trade for Indonesian Lo$ ;-) some diehard fans they are (me laughing at em
while i also own an italian Lo$ which i cannot read)

and last but not least, i know you've said ur part about no sending ideas or
sort but i;ll send the books anyway. i've bought Romance of 3 Kingdoms
straight from Singapore and i have been wanting to send em to you so u can
do a R3K related story. well, if not, it would still make a great gift or a
worthy donation to the local library if you dont like the books :-)
