Quote from user: Roger NorthI knew that Darkwing and Gizmoduck are rival superheroes but I don't think they would beat each other up too much. This is another joke right? I can understand why you put Launchpad in there but Gyro wasn't even on Darkwing Duck although he could have been.
Gyro's just worried about the suit getting dented. It costs a fortune. Scrooge would dock it from his pay. ;)
This is definitely a "What if" kind of situation. I used to pester some of the folks at Gemstone about a new DW series, but no one aside from the art director was interested -- not even sure if they had the rights to the DW character at that point. (I had the whole crazy thing sorted out -- would be an "alternate reality" from the show, a bit darker and less slapstick geared toward the tween/teen adventure crowd -- even had an alternate version of Scrooge thrown in to foil Darkwing ala J.J. Jameson from Spider-Man)
Sometimes it just stinks being a fanboy. ;)

Quote from user: Robb_KVery nice. Are you doing these just for fun? Or do you have in mind to try to market yourself for Disney artwork?
Thanks!
For fun, mostly.
I was kicking around the idea of doing something with Phantom Blot, and then I was going to do a sequential something or other with Mickey, Goofy AND Donald (blasphemy!) getting into a (sarsaparilla) bar fight...
I used to color for Gemstone, but they weren't able to buy much new art. So drawing was definitely out of the question.
Disney art is pretty much the domain of overseas publishers now, save for a handful of Boom books. So I'm not sure my chances of ever landing a drawing gig are that great. Still, it's a nice break from the super hero grind. :)

Quote from user: KneonA work in progress... Darkwing vs. Gizmoduck throwdown...
KILL HIM, DARKWING!
(Sorry, Furienna. Only joking. :) )

If they have the rights, BOOM! should definitely produce a new Darkwing Duck book. In fact, they should produce a new Super Goof book. And they should hire me to write it. :)

Well, BOOM! does seem to be pushing the superhero and fantasy stories featuring the classic characters. They know the American direct market well -- 95% of the books on the market here are superhero titles. So who knows?
My logic with DW was that Gemstone would've had an all ages *superhero* title that could double as a "gateway drug" to all things Duckburg.
Hey BOOM! employees reading this (and I think they are... ;) ) -- make it so. Just... hire us. ;)

Honestly, I've seen no indication that they do read this board (or that they don't, admittedly). But if they tomorrow announce they've come up with the idea of an ongoing "alternate reality" Darkwing Duck book, I'll admit you might be right. :)

Hee. ;)
Well, if *I* just picked up the Disney license, I'd want to keep tabs on what Disney comics fans think of the announcement... but that's me.

Very nice, Robb! The "Br'ers" tend to get overlooked.

Yes, those are characters from "Song of The South", and, of course, Bre'r Rabbit comic books (4-Color) and very popular in Dutch weekly and special books. I'm working on a couple of stories with them now.
Sorry, I forgot to mention that I am Robb_K.
