The Smurfs were not originated by Disney, but have appeared in Disney comics in some countries. They appeared in The Dutch Weekly, at least during the 1970s (possibly during the late '60s and into the early 1980s -my memory is not to clear on this). I'm not versed on what other Disney comics franchises also published The Smurfs (IF any)). But, I think they appeared in German "Miky Maus", as I remember references to "Die Smurfen".

Robb, I can't remember that the Smurfs ever appeared in Micky Maus. And I would be surprised if they did, because the German license is with Carlsen, not with Ehapa. By the way, they are called "Die Schlümpfe" over here.
