Quote from user: SlamduckWow ! There are very beautiful things in this topic !

Quote from user: QuackbergAnd also I have mailed in a short comic I made to the publisher Egmont but I haven't heard nothing from them for a while now.
Persevere, I want read you one day in a Disney comic story.

Robb_k, I noticed that I prefer your drawings not inked. After, the quality of pictures don't permite to see the line correctly...

Oui, Monsieur! My ink lines stiffen my drawings. I am terrible at inking. I have no time to practise that skill. Of course, MOST artists' penciling is much more fluid than their inking (including Barks, and, especially Rosa).

I will die before I am good enough to ink my own Disney stories. But, I hope to be able to draw my own pencils soon.

Very nice "historical drawing", Quackberg!

Well, thanks for the compliment and hopefully I will have some of my drawings published someday - that would be a dream come true =).

Thanks! I'm glad you like it and hopefully you and the rest like my interpretation of Cornelius Coot's wife.

By the way, Robb_K, I actually like your inked lines - especially in the one you made were Scrooge paint light bulbs as easter eggs. What kind of pencils did you use then?

Very nice drawing, Quackberg! I especially like the expressions on their faces, good job!
I hope Egmont replies to your comic, you've got great potential.
Here's another halfpager by me, for the christmas story I've been working on:

Hope you like it.

Here's a synopsis of the story (which wasn't bought by the publisher, written by Frank Jonker):
Christmas Eve:
Donald is doing the evening dinner dishes, while he complains about Scrooge stuffing himself in the billionaire's club, having only beans for his own christmas dinner.
Scrooge is talking to a fat pig, named Bulkezwijn at said club (I guess Bulkezwijn translates to fat pig). They talk about his business in a country, Pafboemistan (probably BamBoomiStan), which is being devestated by two generals hurling huge cannonballs at each other. Bulkezwijn has some interest in this, because he's bought shares (? Aandelen) of the company producing the cannonballs. Scrooge is asked to join Bulkezwijn, but he angrily refuses, and mumbles to himself that he made his money fair and square.
In the meantime Donald goes off for an evening of polishing coins at the money bin. When Donald arrives there he finds Scrooge standing on the doorstep with a baby. Donald urges him to go inside, because of the cold air outside. Scrooge asks Donald to take care of the baby, because he doesn't know squat about them. Donald refuses, not knowing how to deal with babies either. Scrooge fires him.
Donald leaves, not really wanting to work on Xmas eve anyway.. Scrooge goes off to play with his money.
Suddenly the baby starts crying, Scrooge is helpless in finding out what the little kid wants, until he uses his sense of smell..
He then yells Donald back, asking him to change the baby's diaper.
After a bit of arguing, Donald takes Scrooge to the evening store, to buy some baby stuff. Scrooge passes out when he sees the amount he has to pay for the little kid.
Back at the bin, the Ducks search for ways to find the baby's mother back. Scrooge places adverts and stuff in the local newspapers and on TV. They can't go to the police, because they're all on a policeman's ball or something, or only available for emergencies (bit of a weak spot in the plot)
The next day, Huey, Louie and Dewey wake up sprining for joy because of Christmas Day.. But downstairs they find no presents, and no unca Donald. They read the baby-drama in the specially printed newspaper fot that day, and rush off to the Money Bin.
Here they find Scrooge's office is a big mess, with diapers and rugs hanging and lying everywhere.
Scrooge is grumping and moaning, when suddenly the baby gets a hold of a 1000 dollar bill (do those exist? :P )
Donald cathces her (it's a she) and Scrooge urges the boys to find the baby's mother back.
The nephews hear the baby uttering words like Gugu and Gaga, and, with the help of the Junior Woodchuck's Guidebook, can trace back where the child comes from.
They then rush off to find it's mother, searching in the park, the homeless shelter, in alleys behind restaurants, but find nothing.
Then they suddenly realises that the mother may be a homeless person, she's a mother first! (that's about where I am now with drawing this scenario)
They head back to Scrooges Bin, and explain the situation to Scrooge and Donald. They spot the mother lurking in a dark alley, and Donald rushes off to get her to the bin. He gets her to come with him, and the baby and it's mother are reunited.
The mother explains to the Ducks that she wanted her child to have at least one good and cheerful Christmas, for a day or two.
She's from the above mentioned country, Bamboomistan, or Pafboemistan, and can't go home because of the Cannonball hurling generals.
Scrooge has a plan. He invites the fat pig, Bulkezwijn to his Money Bin and tells him that he has bought the remaining 51% shares of the cannonball factory, and is now the proud owner. The pig is happy to hear this, thinking his stock options will increase in value because of this. But Scrooge tells him he's rearranged the factory to produce toys for the kids in Bamboomistan. For free!
That puts an end to the generals fight, and all is well.
Bulkezwijn is devastated and leaves the Money Bin.Scrooge organizes a party and they all have a merry christmas at last!

(I hope all of this is readable, I haven't had English class in about four years.. )

Your English is quite understandable. As usual, Frank has written a wonderful story. I'm jealous that I didn't work on it with him. Now, I will suggest to him that we write a Christmas story together for 2011. I love to write Christmas stories (despite the fact that I am not a Christian). I also like to draw Winter stories with lots of snow on the ground, and blizzards occurring.

For inking, I used a spreading fountain pen (head) similar to Barks' Esterbrook. Sometimes it bleeds when I lift up pressuring a bit too much in trying to taper (thin) the line. I can only use a brush for filling in large shadow/silhouette areas. I use a Colerase non-photo blue coloured pencil for my penciling.

I've also wanted to do a spoof/remake of the original "A Christmas Carol" with the Scrooge we know nowadays. Let's see:

It's Christmas Eve once again! Everyone's happy and jolly in Duckburg, except for Uncle Scrooge. But this time, Donald and family are prepared: he will celebrate Christmas with them, and he'll like it.
So, after a long day, Scrooge goes to bed, and when he's about to go to sleep, a ghost appears: it is Ebenezer Scrooge himself (just the Scrooge fom 1947)! He tells Scrooge about his own adventure, and and the 25 years he lived after that were the best of his life. Scrooge reaction is sceptical. Then we get to know "Ebenezer Scrooge" is actually a hologram, made by Gyro Gearloose. Anyway, Scrooge doesn't believe Scrooge and goes to sleep.

Then the Ghost of Christmas Past appears as Grandma Duck, as she looked a long time ago. In Scrooge's sleep, his friends moved his bed into a big 3-D movie thing from Gyro (has to be worked out) and she showes him her memories of the good old past: how he celebrated Christmas with his family as a kid, as a cowboy, as a prospector, and his last Christmas, 1899. The first Christmas as a millionaire. Then she showes him how Christmas went downhill: paying builders the normal pay for building his Money Bin in 1902, buying himself out out "some"war in 1914, buying stocks and bonds for virtually nothing in 1929, scaring his nephews away in 1947, and doing all sorts of that stuff in the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. Humbug.

The next ghost appears: it's Gus Goose, the Ghost of Christmas Present. He shows Donald and the kids having a small turkey, this being the first time Gladstone hasn't won one, but also the Beagle Boys who decided to leave Scrooge alone and are celebrating on a few prunes.

Then the last ghost appears: an old, wrinkled, bearded version of Donald Duck. He shows Scrooge the future: how people left because Scrooge was such a cheapskate, how Scrooge bought the town, and eventually got broke because of all that. The present (again, a Gearloose invention) shows Scrooge's "old" friends living in the ruins of a deserted Duckburg, celebrating Christmas Day 2032 by burning some of Scrooge's old paper money. Gyro lost his imagination, the air is filled with smog, old Gus is as skinny as ever, and Huey, Dewey and Louie are as bad in doing work as he was at their age. But the last scares Scrooge really off: a grave which says: SCROOGE MCDUCK, JULY 22 1867- DECEMBER 27 2011. DIED WHILE COUNTING HIS MONEY.

At last Scrooge goes back to his own time and orders a turkey as large as Turkey. At last everything has gotten allright. The end.
Robb_K
Very nice story idea. But, we can not put Scrooge's (or any main regular character's) birth or death years on a gravestone (or anywhere else). Just as we can't see which US state The Simpsons live in (and then know which Springfield they live in), we can't peg The Ducks to a specific time in history.
Dutch Duckfan Down Under
Yeah, I suppose only SCROOGE MCDUCK on a grave would make enough sense.

Very nice pages, McDuck Menu! They look as good as any Ducks coming from the Netherlands. :)
Since I stopped doodleing Donald for some time, I braced myself up and produced this little drawing:
