I love it! My original drawing was not good at all (as are most of my full-body drawings). It, as they say, failed. For those who want to see it, here it is:

Now the idea might seem a little strange to foreigners, but it's an old tradion in Dutch stories to end with Donald running off to Timbuktu, and being chased by an angry mob. This picture shows him training.
Quackberg
Great drawing McDuck Menu and I must say that your coloring is superb! And the idea is great as well, Dutch Duckfan Down Under. The final result of the two, as we have seen, would be a perfect cover for a Donald Duck comic book. That Donald would run to Timbuktu because of a angry mob is also seen in Sweden and I think that is one of the most classic endings in the comics and as Dutch Duckfan Down Under said has really become a tradition, and it is hilarious every time.

I didn't notice this topic before, and...
Seriously?...Are you PROFESSIONAL artists or what? Your work is AMAZING!!! Absolutely perfect. Especially McDuck Menu, Scarp, Robb_K and Quackberg.
Considering we're talking about Disney, can we post non-ducks art? If so, here's my cover for our TaleSpin fan comic project :

I sure don't have the same level! lol But considering I almost never drew anything in my life, I'm quite happy with the result :)

Some of us are professionals. Henrieke and McDuck Menu have drawn single gag pages for Dutch Disney Comics and Henrieke has drawn a cover. I have penciled a cover and sketched 2 others, and have drawn storyboards for Dutch Disney Comics since 1985, and for Danish Disney Comics from 1989-1995, and again in 2003. I also was a digital painter and did some clean-up work on "The Pagemaster" (animated feature film) for Turner feature Animation (1997-98), and worked on clean-up on the workbooks in Layout Dept. on "Cats Don't Dance" for that studio(1998-99), as well as in development (1950s architecture) for "Iron Giant" for Warner Bros. feature Animation(1998). Kneon has done drawings and (I believe) digital painting for Walt Disney Studios (on comic books?), Gemstone Comics, and also some work for Warner Bros. Comics. VoBo has done some digital painting.

Much more of Henrieke's artwork is on the first "Show off Your Art" thread (as is much more from some of us). I suggest you peruse that thread as well.

In addition to all those above (I hope I have not forgotten any other contributor who has already done any professional cartooning work), there is one more budding artist who, I believe, is very close. That is David Kops. I'm not sure if Quackberg has worked professionally in the art field. If he has, I don't believe it is in the comic book field. Scarp has not told us anything (at least, I can't remember any comment on that subject).
Robb_K
I don't have time to do any drawings now (unrelated to a story for sale), so I'll upload a few older ones (I hope have not been posted yet on THIS forum (I post most of them on McDrake.NL, and get confused as to what has been posted where):

I apologise if some of these were already posted on the first installment of this thread. The Bre'r Buzzard (we call him Barend Buizerd in Holland) is the drawing I used for my avatar logo both on this forum, and on McDuck.NL/McDrake.NL. Funny, he is NOT a buzzard (which is a hunter), but is a vulture, which is a scavenger.

Good drawing steet, especially the characters I think and I have always enjoyed TaleSpin and Colonel Spigot (I think that's his name) was my favorite in that series. I'm not a professional artist but it would be great if I was as that would be a lot of fun I think - looking forward to that day to have something published by Egmont (hopefully :P). And I not suprised to hear that some of the other artist has something published in some way, as they are that good to do so =).
PS. Is it possible to make this: http://i667.photobucket.com/albums/vv39/Quackberg/SlackjawSnoreheadSmiley.jpg into a smiley? as I want it in my signature and you can't use images there.

Some of us are professionals. [i]

And finally there's me. I've been trying to draw Disney characters (mostly Ducks) for nearly a decade now, and I still can't do it. That's why never post any drawings here: they're terrible.

But well, why not.
Here's a fictional ad for the ANWB (Algemene Nederlandse Wielrijders Bond = General Dutch Cycling Club), although it doesn't say that name on the drawing, I'm sure that the 125th anniversary of the ANWB a few years ago has to do with it.

It would be from the 1900s, I think, and for those who don't understand: "Ook ik ben velocipedist" means "I also am a velocipedist". A velocipedist is the old name of a cyclist, velocipede being the cycle itself.
And finally, for those who don't understand the advertising in this, it tries to say: become a cyclist, the rich people do it too.
http://img265.imageshack.us/img265/2228/ookikbenvelocipedist.jpg
Whew. That's a lot of explanation for one drawing. It's an older drawing, made last summer, probably. The artwork is kind of bad (as usual), but I like it.

Thanks! And yes, that's Colonel Spigot! (perhaps you've heard of him? :P) I do believe your work is of professional quality.

And the fact some of you are actually professionals (or semi-professionals) doesn't surprise me :) Maybe I even read some of your work! (I used to be a massive Disney books (Mickey / Ducks) reader when I was 5 to 15...then I stopped reading, until recently with the new Disney Afternoon comics)

Well considering the very high quality of the average drawings posted here, it's obviously hard to keep up. But honestly, your work is far from being terrible!
Have you tried the advice given in the previous pages, though? Start with very basic forms (circles, squares...) to get the right proportions. This has helped me A LOT. (though I do still have many problems : I have a lot of trouble drawing hands, feet, and hats especially...Also perspective is very hard...)

Also try to look at a reference picture when drawing (not tracing, just look), that helps me too. Even professionals use modelsheets, don't they?

YES! ABSOLUTELY! you can make up a "smilie" drawing and submit it to the moderators here. If they like it, they will add it to the smilies roster for this forum.

This "smilie" sad though it be: :( was taken directly from an inked version of my crying Goofy drawing -the very one which I have posted above.

I did look at a lot of model sheets. When you're just starting to draw it's a very useful thing to do. When you're a bit further along the road, perhaps it's best to let go of those sheets a bit, in order to get a style of your own. It takes a LOT of practice, but it's fun to do :) So practice, practice, practice, and you'll get there. As for Quackberg, I think you just need a bit of luck. It's a bit of an overcrowded market at the moment, as the publishers aren't accepting much, but your artwork already has that professional quality.

@Steet; I don't think you've read any of my stories, since I just had one page published in 2010 in Holland/The Netherlands :P I'm only 23 years old, so it's probably impossible you've seen any of my work published ;)
Perhaps you have read some op Robb's stories, he's been an artist for a far longer period than I have been.

Not bad at all for a first try. As McDuck Menu stated, practise, practise, practise. Use the basic geometric forms to build up the figure from the inside out. One cannot just simply try to draw the "outline" of the figure, and hope to place the parts in their proper positions (as Duckfan Down Under has found out to his frustration. He started to take our advice and draw geometric shapes and his drawings started to look better. But, he has abandoned that, and so, his work is not improving much.

I have had about 8 one-page gags and about 4-5 4 to 6-page stories and a few 10 page stories published in France, in "Journal de Mickey", "Mickey Parade" and Super Picsou Géant" (under my name (Rob Klein). I think all 3 of my covers have been published there in one book or another.

As a matter of fact, I am looking for someone who can find my French publications for me second hand. My friends in France, Cacou and a couple others (also on this forum, don't look through second hand issues of "Journal de Mickey". I spend some time in Bruxelles, but I have never seen them in a second hand shop or antikvariat. I have only seen a few "Super Picsou Géant". I have only seen Dutch comics and the short Flemish Donald comic in Antwerpen.

Do you look for second hand French Disney comics?

Thank you! Although you're right, terrible is a bit too much.

I did, this draweing is from before that time. It's getting better and better. :) But you seem to be having the same problems as I: arms and legs.
Interesting note: I started drawing the hardest part (the head) first on purpose. Now the head is one of the best things I can draw. I also chose the head first because I didn't know how to express body language yet, so it would look very dull.

That's a good one, I've got to remember that. I do take pictures from comics to see what a character is wearing. Inducks scans work just as fine.

Yeah, Robb's right. You can't just draw an outline (except for my heads, which seem to look only worse when using a circle), which I've been doing for years before I started using geometrical figures.
But I had a reason to do it. For a long time, I only drew Ducks just to do something, and I didn't want to spend too much time on it. Just one head, that's 5-10 seconds, and that'll do. Today, I've drawn a one-row comic (like Taliaferro) with Huey, Dewey and Louie. I took me an hour, but by Banks, it looks brilliant. I'll scan it soon. Promised. :) And underneath, there's another one with Gus Goose. That one took shorter, but it's only two panels.

I haven't abandoned using circles. The drawing you see up here is an old one, from last summer or so. And they're still looking better and better.

Right now, I'm drawing 6 pages of small ideas (one page or less). There's 2 one-pagers, and 8 one-row comics (two fit on a page). You might never see anything of it, but here are the ideas:
-A World War One helmet can still be useful (1 page)
-Gus Goose + All you can eat = Trouble (done)
-Outnumbered (done)
-Saying goodbye (a very silly idea, 1 page)
-A huge discount
-Stranded
-Bills
-Violence (it's not as bad as it sounds)
-Bean rigged
-Bean excersing

Here's one of my better and more recent drawings, made becuase of Disney's Tangled (it's called Rapunzel in Dutch).
http://img856.imageshack.us/img856/2021/kleurf.jpg
The character all the way down is a fairy tale version of Carl, my very own fan character. He's modeled after me. His personality, not his looks, I mean.

My ideas "Stranded" and "Bills", mentioned in the topic above, have been finished too by now.
