Well, remember that the McDuck Towers were damaged by
the flying Money Bin in "Attack of the Space-Varmints"
(and that was even before September 11th).

Barks' skunk oil factory was translated into margarine factory in
Scandinavia. Later, it has become an established fact (more or less) in
Scandinavia that Donald works at the margarine factory. Some stories have
used this as a theme.

You are right. However, the Fix place *was* a factory, because apart from
beer, it also used to produce soft drinks, canned fruit and jams. Beer
was just its most well-known product. [So much so, that someone recently
bought the brand name, and "Fix Hellas" beer is available again, a couple
of decades after the Fix business went bankrupt.]

Hi all!
Yesterday I was told this:
> It is not easy to find. It is not in the numbered
> page section but rather in among the advertisements
> under the heading of No Mickey Mouse Artist. The
> article only shows how Mr. Barks used images in NGM
> for his stories. Unfortunately they did not run a

> Good luck.
Today I checked again - for the 3rd time!, and what do
I find? Nothing, absolutely NOTHING! And the CANON ad
is NOT on the page I was told it would be. It's on
page 24 (including the cover). I asked the librarian
who said that the magazine I was looking in IS
American.
So what the he.. is going on here? Does there exist
more than one version off each issue? If so why?
I am sorry if I look a bit upset, but I have been
waiting for this article for some weeks now, and this
bl... mess makes me fell cheated by NG, a magazine I
once considered serious. Now I am not sure anymore,
because how can anyone seriously remove or disregard
stuff about the greatest master of them all just like
that??? And what a stupid tittle "No Mickey Mouse
Artist". What have Micky to with Carl Barks? Any sane
magazine would certainly have described Barks as "The
Great Duck Artist" or something like that. I can
hardly imagine any Scandinavian magazine would ever do
such blunders as the ones now presented by NG.
BTW, can anyone please do a scan and put it on-line
somewhere?

Wouldn't _that_ be a cool picture of a Duckburg landmark: the twin towers
crashing, damaged by a flying Money Bin?
(is there any chance that anyone would get offended by that?-)

The same is true for Germany, if we're talking about WDC 165. As far as I
can remember the term has also been used in other stories. Maybe newer
translators changed it to skunk oil factory again, but I can't really
imagine. "Stinktier?l-Fabrik"? No way!

And because of this translation, we have had actual stories where we have
seen Donald working in margarine factory. One story even had streets of
Duckburg flooding with melted margarine. And statues made out of margarine
(quite silly).
About skunk oil, check this site about old remedies:
http://www.kanabechistory.com/amyscorner/amyscorner1.html
Remedies of the Old Days
By Amy Troolin, Research Room Coordinator
"Many people relied on skunk oil to cure their colds. Yes, skunk oil. Most
people put a few drops of the stuff onto a teaspoon of sugar; others
attempted an entire spoonful. Some even rubbed skunk oil on their chests for
easier breathing. "
Barks must have remembered his youth and the skunk oil remedy.
Yep!

Hi again!
In Don Rosa's stories US-president Teddy Roosevelt
keep saying "by Godfrey". What does this mean?
By the way, I guess that teddy's wife, shown in "The
Sharpie of The Culebra Cut", is NOT Ellinor Roosevelt?

"By Godfrey" is an USA acceptable way of saying "by God"
and Eleanor Roosevelt was married to Franklin Roosevelt, not Teddy.

Huh? I wonder how this expression was born, since I have conception that
Mickey Mouse-animations were considered to be first-rate productions quite
early.
Could it be those very first Mickey Mouse watches if they were low quality?
