Hi friends! - Oooops! I noticed that in my description of Barks' Duckburg's
City Centre, I have misspelt Courthouse (Couthouse). Both Donald and Scrooge
have had many "misadventures" with the interpretation of the law in that
building. So, it is important enough to list as a memorable Duckburg landmark
(at least, considered together with the City Hall and other important public
buildings).

Vlottes.
I wish the whole story had been redrawn by Jippes... Thankfully with
"Forbidden Valley" we have a far superior remake of "Darkest Africa" with
all the Barks drawings surviving!

I also got the news about Daan, but... it couldn't be alla made by himself!
Daan made a good job with "DD's Atom Bomb", even changing something a little
bit in Barks' art.

Another June 29th crawls towards it's end and I'm surprised that there's been
so few birthday greetings to Don Rosa - compared to last year! (I know that
last year was his 50th, but still!)
I tried to send one birthday greeting earlier today, but for some bizarre
reason the mail was never delivered. (That's why I prefer to send birthday
cards by snail mail - which I have also done. Don, you will probably recieve it
during next week - I forgot for a minute that sending mail to the other side of
the big ocean takes a little longer than sending mail to e.g. Namsos.)
However - I hope it's not too late? - HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DON!!

Woops, sorry! I somehow missed that message (it was stuck inbetween a
hundred "Duckburg landmarks" mails). However, I sometimes, when I have the
time, lean back and dive into the DCML Archive (I do not have the capacity to
archive it in my own mailbox), so I just found your mail. However, here's my
answer.
None of my stories have been published yet. I hope to have my first one, "Being
Donald Duck", published in Scandinavia in late 2002 or early 2003. It should
have been drawn by now, but because of delays I don't know the reasons for,
N??ez starts drawing it the week after next.
This week, Erickson told me who will be the artist for my second story, "The
sequel machine", which really was a big surprise for me - none other than
Romano Scarpa himself! I can't think of any still living, Donald-related person
that I admire more than Scarpa - imagine how I felt when I was told that this
legend actually will draw a story little _me_ has written! This will probably
not be out for a while, as Scarpa will not start drawing it before August (and
he's not one of the quickest artist either - but I can't really say I care too
much about that, as he is the _best_!).
As far as I've understood, the rule is that _after_ the story is drawn, Egmont
will decide if/when they will print it.

Actually, when I think of it, it was a Mickey Mouse story which made me realize
that! I don't really recall the story code, but it was probably an I-story,
published in Norway in Donald Pocket 88. In this story Zapotec and Marlin
(sorry that I didn't bother to double-check the English names - but I'm sure
99,9% of you know who I'm talking about!) use the time machine to send Mickey
and Goofy back to the 1970 World Cup in Mexico to find out why some Italian guy
played only 6 minutes or something of the final, and the story was filled with
lots of exciting information about Brazil and Italy. I don't remember why I did
that, but I decided to support Brazil - as they were Goofy's favorite, as they
_won_ the 1970 World Cup and because the entire story had lots of positive
feedback on some guy named P?l? (I was 8yo or something the first time I read
this, so... Later, I discovered that this P?l? guy existed in real life and was
the greatest legend in soccer history - well, according to me he is. Btw, This
P?l? guy wasn't the only real existing person. The same for that Columbus guy
and lots of other characters. And still my parents said that you can't learn
anything from reading comics?)
However - I've never really been interested in soccer. But - most because of
this story, I guess, I'm a Brazil fan. I was chearing for Brazil in the World
Cup final 8 years ago. I was chearing for Brazil in the World Cup final 4 years
ago (by this time I started to realize that P?l? wasn't active anymore). And -
I will chear for Brazil in the World Cup final 2002. I may not watch the game.
But deep inside my heart, I wish for Brazil to win - regardless of the
importance of the game (local match or World Cup final). Regardless of the team
they're playing against (well - eccept for when they play against Norway, of
course. Luckily, Norway has never had any problems beating Brazil in soccer).
I'm no soccer fan. But I'm still a Brazil fan. And Mickey Mouse gave that to me.
About that story - I simply cannot hold it, so I write a spoiler at the bottom
of this mail.

supposed to land on a desert road which turns out to be an Interstate etc.
Merlin blames Zapotec for this, as he did all the research. When they come to
the stadium, they find out that P?l? is on the tribune. Goofy says something
like "Shouldn't he be warming up for the game?" and another journalist
answers "Are you pulling my leg? The last time P?l? played here was the World
Cup final in 1970, 16 years ago!" Then, it turns out that Merlin had sent them
to the _wrong_ final - He sent them to the _1986_ World Cup, which _also_ took
place in Mexico. I think of it as a _great_ idea for a story!
