There are also other examples where I would object the ranking - and I am
one of those seven editors who voted for it. I myself voted Barks #1,
Gottfredson #14 and Scarpa #28. The ranking is an average created by the
individual rankings of all participating editors. There can probably never
be a canonical ranking about which everyone agrees. So in case of
Gottfredson and Scarpa it might be, that Scarpa's stories (if not his name)
are rather well-known in Germany due to the printings in "Walt Disney's
Lustige Taschenb?cher" whereas Gottfredson has only been printed in
collector's editions which are not accessible to children. And to be quite
truthful a lot of the magic of Disney comics is best understood by young
readers and is difficult to grok in later years.

Hi all:

After lurking for quite some time I switched from digest to single mail mode
yesterday, which had the immediate effect that I was drawn into the
discussion :o)

So that you know who I am, here is a short IntroDuckTion: I am 32 years old,
live on the Northwest of Germany and have been a Disney fan for as long as I
can remember. I learned reading from "Walt Disneys Lustige Taschenb?cher"
(the German editions of Topolino), spent my first money on the b/w Barks
Library, have been a Donaldist (http://www.donald.org) for 15 years, an
editor of the German Comics Journal "Comic Speedline" for 5 years - and I
tremendeously enjoy Disney comics until this day and probably until the end
of my life. In addition to reading Disney comics I also like many other
comics from creators around the world.

So that was in short the "comics" part of my life. The rest can be found

The Inducks search at the DCML pages is back.

It was gone for almost two weeks. Now that it's back it's the current
Inducks. Previously it has been an old version for some time.
The Inducks has changed a lot since I did this last, so there are many
new fields etc. I haven't done anything about that. Also there are
no current output files on the DCML pages yet.

Oh, my - once again I made a snafu: The first sentence was quoted from Timo
Ronkainen, not from myself. And regarding the mixed-up plural: Yes, it IS
somewhat funny that I made such an obvious mistake in a sentence in which I
apologized for another embarassing mistake. Must have been by subconscious.
But what is it trying to say to me? Probably that I read and write too many
eMails each day?

Mickey doesn't step forward onto the platter. Instead, having just
received a scare, Mickey falls backwards- and while Mickey's still in
mid-fall, a prankster standing behind Mickey sticks the platter under
Mickey's butt so he'll land seated on it.
Had Mickey been running forward and stepped on the platter, I'd
agree with you that the turkey was too obvious, and I'd have asked that it
be erased. But since Mickey doesn't even see the platter until he's already
landed on it, it didn't matter what the platter looked like.
I decided the platter was funnier with the turkey than without. So
the turkey stayed.

I may be way off base here, but as a fan, it disturbs a bit to think that just b/c and editor thinks a turkey is funnier than a regular platter, the turkey appears.
Sounds ridiculous to me and I feel sorry for the authors who find such unnessary, but somewhat dramatic changes in their stories come print.
