I was using the word "canon" in a different sense, possibly an incorrect one
in this context. What I meant was the official "truth" according to which
stories are written. A pronouncement by a creator is not necessarily canon,
but the context in which the creator's stories must be placed is. For
example, if I were to propose a Glomgold story to Egmont (tho for the past
few years, I've been getting Mouse-group assignments), it would be necessary
for me to show him living where Egmont says he lives -- which at present, I
believe, is Duckburg.

Hi folks,
Just spent the whole day indexing old Danish 1951 issues, and it struck
me how very few descriptions actually exists for Carl Barks stories in
Inducks--thus lacking in the COA search pages as well.
Let's say I wish to find that one page CB story where Uncle Scrooge
throws a coin across a river, just to find it in my collection (the
story that is, not the coin ;-). What to do then? In fact this might be
a bad example, since I haven't really tried to do a search on that, but
in many (other) cases it would be hopeless.
I was wondering if perhaps someone out there (here) already did write
minor descriptions of the Carl Barks stories (5-20 words sentences),
which might be implemented in Inducks.
Anyone?

back then, so descriptions were never put "on paper". However, nowadays

I personally would prefer black and white reprints for Carl Barks, just like
they did in original ten-box-set CBL. Barks never colored his duck stories,
therefore any coloring is additional to Barks' original.
But if colored, I'd like to see watercolour type coloring - not too bright.
Something that emphasizes the moods and situations in particular comic
story. No need to add blunt photoshop-effects.
Of course you can do very good job with photoShop and other such programs
too. W.I.T.C.H is good example of that. But as Barks' line is quite simple
yet powerful, it needs no additional effects.

Printing plate's form depends on what kind of printing method you use, and
so on. Well, in ancient times (1930' to 50's or so) plates were quite heavy
half-cylinder shaped things made of tin (casted with mold). Those things
were mounted on printer machine's cylinder. That was called letterpress, I
think (I'm not sure of english terms).
Offset-printing started to use much lighter plates (thin metal), which were
done with certain photochemical process using films.
Nowadays you can print books completely without films or plates, with
digital press.

There is of course the BarksBase by Gerd Syllwasschy.
This has been helpful for the purposes outlined by S?ren for many years.
The BarksBase is in English and in German, but the 'minor descriptions' are
in German only.

From what I remember....a publishers printing plate
had four pages on each "plate"
I purchased 1/4 of a plate some time ago
at a San Diego show..
It was page one of a Scrooge issue...
the plate was grey-tone in color and very heavy for its size,,
which was a standard comic book page
maybe made of zinc or some pot metal?
I think I paid $40 for it..
